Camaro SS vs GT500 not KR
OK...yes i know the ford is rated at 500hp
BUT...it cant quite put it to the ground efficiently I mean it was independently clocked at a 0-60 in 4.6...which is same as camaro And no stability control The only thing it has that i would like to order in my camaro is NAV...but we'll have that eventually....but im not gonna wait...i have a nice gps that ive had to buy for my job and it could beat any factory NAV. And its 10k more And only brembo FRONT rotors and calipers on the GT500 And oooooo...it has colored cup holders...oh no....Ambient Lighting is what we get foos Anyways...i personally think that Chevy made the camaro compete with the (Murdered)Mustang GT and GT500(Competitor) at the same time. DAMMET I CANT WAIT A YEAR and also...wtf is with the 2010 model gt500...its all bubblegummy And ALSO...the KR...is only .3 seconds faster to the 60 mark and is 44k more...LOL...and is still the same car as the GT500 essentially |
I was trying to create enough enthusiasm for everyone to get pumped up and flood Fordboys sites. saying chevy bowtie > Ford Oval

In a straight line .. no comparison .. GT500 hands down ... I think it will be differnent in the twisties though ...
Anyone who takes the GT500 lightly will be suprised ... and you can mod them for cheap and get big HP ... Id take either car ... I do however think that the GT500 is way overpriced .. Crowley |

The 0-60 time might be similar, but in the 1/4 or farther the GT500 will pull away. Plus they can be easily and cheaply modified for even bigger hp. Also all Mustangs get stability control for 2010. Twisties should be a different story though.

the GT500KR gets a 4.3 0-60 Camaro SS gets a 4.6 0-60 Nissan Armada stops in 128 Feet GT500 stops in 120 Feet Camaro Stops in 109 Feet Porsche 911 stops in 106 Feet Nissan Armada stops in 128 Feet I would never take a GT500...not even the KR |
All this talk of "get them out on the twisties" and it's game, set match. Folks, the limits on any of these cars are so high that 99% of owners/drivers will NEVER take these cars to those limit's on "public roads". Can you imagine seeing two cars attempting to pass each other on a two lane country road in a blind corner at 100MPH while some guy in a mini van is approahing???
Get real, the upper limit's of these cars will far exceed 99% of the drivers ability and will never be reached. The likely outcome will be determined by luck and or driver stupidy to press the issue. |

I think we are all talking about events ... 1/4 drags at the track and autocross type events .. not talking about street racing I hope .. Crowley |

What are the official 1/4 and 0-60 times for the 2009 and less GT500?
The SS can stay with that one. It will have more trouble beating the 2010 GT500, though. I think Chevy made two upmarket cars in the Camaro while still pricing them in-line with their lower-market counterparts. The V6 slots higher than the other two, but not quite as high as a GT, or RT...and the SS slots higher than the GT, and RT (and SRT), but just a fraction below the 2010 GT500.:iono: I don't really care. I'm getting a Camaro and I'm gonna enjoy every second of it.:D |

1/4 Mile (sec @ mph): 12.8 @ 112.6 I would guess it would be a very close race with the GT500 crossing just before the camaro .. but since there is no test data, it is hard to tell .. I hope I'm wrong :) With the 2010 Gt500, I think it will come out a head for sure .. Crowley |
Kinda hard to make comparisons when we haven't even had an official test of the SS.....I don't really care what most of the manufacturers say - they've been known to be wrong. Although the car mags usually differ, we probably need tests of a production SS, although I can't imagine the 540hp beast '10 Shelby not to be a pretty damn good performer
