Boston Acoustics Speaker Ratings

I've searched high and low and cannot find the answer.

Does anyone know the specks of the BA speakers. I'm looking for RMS/Peak handling and I guess ohms. I am trying to plan an audio upgrade and I am trying to figure out how much to push to the stock speakers or figure out if I should upgrade them.

Thanks.

You can safely push more power to the stock BA speakers with an amp such as the JL Audio xd400.

Unfortunately, I don't have the specs of the BA speakers. But for best results, you should just replace the speakers with some that can handle more power.

guessing 25w RMS 50w max, entry level stuff.

Has anybody been able to find the specs on the BA speakers?

If you are upgrading anything at all in the audio system, there is no way you should keep the stock speakers. You can find upgraded speakers for under $20 each if you look. Don’t waste your valuable time searching for specs on the OEM speakers.

So you're saying with something as "simple" as a replacement head unit I can get plug and play speakers that are better than the BA? Any specific ones you'd recommend?

If you just replace the head unit, the speakers aren't going to get any more or less power than they're getting now. The stock amp will still be powering them.

I pulled the BA amp, dropped in an Alpine PDR-V75... HUGE difference!

www.madisoundspeakerstore.com

Silver Flute W17RC38-04 $29.80 each
Peerless 830657 SDS Woofer $21.70 each
Peerless PPB 830874 $27.00 each

I would recommend in that order.

I’m probably just going to save up and do the amp and the front speakers at the same time.

How big of a job is this, where is the amp located in my camaro?

I really am not into removing like the whole dash but would like a little better sound.

beak81champ 01-25-2018 11:41 AM

The amp is in the trunk right behind drivers side tail light. Easy to get to.

What amps are you looking at? I have a pair of NEXT Audio (made by Audison) amps, a 4.400 and a 4.200 that look like new that I would sell for $300 shipped. They would give you around 85-90 watts per channel of A/B goodness, or you could bridge the big amp to your doors for 150+ watts, and run the smaller amp to your tweets, and have 2 spare channels if you want to do a pair of small mids later on.
