I'm considering having it tuned for regular tune once it hit 4.50+. My Subaru uses regular and averages 28 mpg and quite honestly its pissing me off to fill that @ 60 dollars a tank full.

I'm retired and don't daily drive much any more. We have three cars, with two of them being tuned for 93 and the 3rd is a stock Traverse that runs 87. A full tank of fuel last us 3-4 weeks. I normally top off at a 1/2 tank, so there isn't much sticker shock. Would I ever sell, zero plans as of now...

I put 164 miles on my car last year so not really an issue. :smiling1:

I'm waiting for the fuel price to beat the living snot out of resale value but since the chip shortage/everything shortage is still in effect then hows that gonna work??? :noidea:

No way I'm selling my baby!!! Again, it's a garage queen plus I have a company vehicle that picks up the gas and insurance. I'm lucky and know it. Great points being brought up about wind turbines needing oil for lubrication and being in the computer field, computer chips don't come from Silicon Valley. I just think it will eventually even out again but oh how I miss $1.99(93) IN NEW JERSEY!!!!

Forget about Joy at the pump Boys and girls… at least for a little while anyway, I do believe it will even out eventually, inflation certainly isn’t helping either.

Doesn't matter to me, although I am not exactly thrilled about paying these prices. I paid $3.92 per gallon today for 93. I will never sell and I will never stop driving it. I will just drive my Lancer 4 banger instead.

Funny, my last few daily drivers were 12 mpg behemoths. Last fill-up for the 2LS I clocked 27.1. I bought the V6 car with $4 gas in mind. The only way I'll stop driving my Camaro(s) is if there is NO gas, then we'll be in Mad Max territory.

Ethanol is still under $3 here. Seeing how the conversion costs about the same as a fill up, maybe it’s an option. I get around 100 per tank though. So not viable for a dd

This same scenario ended the muscle car boom in the 70's.

My Camaro and the G8 get about the same gas mileage.

Its pretty well winter so the Camaro won't be going out much anyway.

Meh. I bet you a shiny nickle gas is under $3/gallon again before it's $7/gallon here*. Futures markets are already trending down. I'd also point out gas is still cheaper than it was 2011-2014 and we haven't seen anything approaching the 2008 spike.

The sky is not falling. We've been here before and we'll be here again, this is cyclical.

That said, gas prices are not a significant part of my budget. I don't have any non-mortage debt and my mortgage is very manageable. I could go over a year without a salary without having to dip into retirement funds. I can't think any realistic gas price over the next 5-10 years would cause me to sell my Camaro.

Well, since my Camaro SS is my economy car, I'll keep driving it regardless of fuel prices. Yes, it gets better mileage (≈24MPG) than the other three vehicles we own (2001 Grand Cherokee 4.0, 1997 Grand Cherokee 4.0 and 1974 K5/Blazer 350) on my 60 mile commute. I get that high of fuel mileage because mostly I'm on cruise at 60 MPH in 6th gear (≈1300 RPM).

I'm a numbers guy, so yeah, at some point I'll weigh the difference between gas expenses of my V6 and another vehicle. The real question is at what price point?


Currently, Kroger premium gas runs me about $3.70/gallon, so I'm good.

Here in the Repulik, during the initial lockdown, gas got down to about $3.00. Of course, little was open and not many places to go. But those empty freeways were pretty bitchin, as they say. Other than that, it seems like I have to go back to the Clinton administration here to see $3.70!
