News Flash from Camaro Lovers to Camaro Lovers

Target production for 2009.

Start of Production for the 2009 Camaro will be 2-16-09 - It will be a 2009 Model.

At this time, Simms Chevrolet will be accepting refundable deposits on the all new Chevrolet Camaro. Be one of the first people on the block with this all new muscle car.

Does my deposit get me a new camaro?

Deposits will be collected and tracked by date and time. The number of new Camaro that will be in production is unknown. It shall be random draw process. If the person is not ready to take delivery of the new Camaro, it shall continue down the list until all allocated Camaro(s) are sold.

How much is the deposit?

You are required to leave $750.00 deposit. Only one per customer. You will get 100% refunded back too you at anytime by just writing us a letter.

Can I choose my factory options on my New Camaro?

This deposit is a pre-order on the New Camaro. After we receive your deposit, we will contact you on the day the manufacturer has started to accept orders, and allow you to customize the Camaro at that time.

What if I am not one of the lucky ones to get a Camaro?

Unfortunately, I third that. This news comes as the second "announced" start of production date(contrasting with October of '08)...so, I now believe niether, untill I hear it from GM.

Thanks for keeping a lookout though, Apellon.

EDIT: I Decided to scratch that previous statement about not believing anything yet...I beleive!!!

...(I'll probably sit on a lawn chair with a bag of popcorn and 6-pack of beer watching them roll out of the plant into the parking compound when that begins!!! http://web.camaross.com/forums/image...es/biggrin.gif http://web.camaross.com/forums/images/smilies/lol.gif )

Yes.
And I think that would be kinda fun sitting in a lawn chair watching them come out of the plant! (save me a seat!)

Hmm, seems like GM would lose money for the first quarter of '09 if they waited 2 months into the new year to begin production. I think GM will definitely start production sometime in '08 for the '09 year.

They are starting production sometime in '08. October '08 for a Jan/Feb '09 release.

Preorders are great.

I want to start a preorder website, where anyone can preorder anything. By the time the product comes out I will have made so much money investing their money...

I agree . I spoke with someone from GM Corporate ( I can't say any names but someone who knows ) and they still don't have a production date or the Price. They expect to start making them at the end of 2008 I was told. But it's not official.

Apparently there are some folks on these boards that work at the Oshawa plant. They're probably going to be our best bet on hearing any "new" information pertaining to the Camaro's production start time. I mean, they're the ones building it, right?

It's been said before; GM has to finish making the '07 Impalas' which should conclude around November of this year. They'll tear down that line and the tooling people will reconfigure it to run the Camaros. From what I hear, setting that line up will take about 6 months if everything goes well. So that puts the Camaro's start up time frame approximately around May or June of '08. You may start seeing them in showrooms around August of '08, or "about" a year from now as the '09 model.

OR... you might not see them at all until December '08- January '09 at the very latest... which, of course would suck- especially around that time, for northerners.
