CUSTOM TAP-SHIFTERS and ALL RELATED SHIFTERS FROM CFD

Hi all.

Some may already know I manufacture custom shifters, as well as other products, for our Camaro's. I am gradually combining all things shifters to this thread for easier reference.

To start things off.
NEW PRODUCT OEM STYLE TAPSHIFTERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the official release of my new OEM style tapshifters. They start off as OEM shifter knobs then are modified and fitted with my own custom designed switches. These can be purchased as new units or you can send me yours to be fitted. They come with all needed wiring and detailed instructions.

$169.95 cost for switch, components and installation

To purchase a built unit add $169.95 to the price of the OEM handle, prices vary with stitching color, the list of shifters in stock is as follows, other colors are available.

$ 74.95 (stone)
$ 74.58 (orange)
$ 49.95 (red)
$ 49.95 (yellow)

I'm in for one with a stone shifter. I'm thrilled to see this as I was unable to use your other shifter becuse of my arthritis and the way it shifted.

How exactly do you install this?

-"Ride or Die."

Will you be able to retain the use of the paddle shifters?

Pace 10-04-2014 09:12 PM

Love it. Wish you could do that to the drake shift knob.

Here are the installation instructions, the only difference is the handle used, it's fairly easy to do.

In order to retain use of the stock paddles you will need to add an on/on or on/off/on switch.

The Drake knob is similar in size to the OEM shifter so it's very possible.

Here is a picture of the matte and brushed. IMHO the brushed would be a better choice, over time with the use of tapshift, you will be using it lol. the matte will take on a shiny look where your thumb makes contact, the brushed look will pretty much stay the same and could be easily cleaned up.

2011 RJT

I had a chance to machine yours and fit the switch, I may get it finished up today and shipped tomorrow.

I don't see my pics. Also, just out of curiosity can you do anything with the base of the shifter so it's not shiny?

Wiat I see them now and I'll go with your recommendation (brushed). I still wonder about the base. Can you brush it or power coat black? I just hate the chrome look but either way I am in.

Hi all.

For those who placed orders before today, there on the way. Todays orders will most likely be done tomorrow.

1-2 days turn around looks like it will work out for those who want to send me your own shifter.

Hi all.

Here is some info on the installation.

The only difference from the other shifters is there is no o-ring used with the OEM knob

Here is the link to the instructions http://cartersfabanddesign.com/carters_011.htm

This is suggested but not mandatory. Because of where the wires exit the OEM shifter the angle where they pass through the bezel is increased, this area is shown on pg 4, of the instructions. I would suggest modifying the bezel slightly to eliminate it. In the picture below, as indicated by my thumb, you will see where I notched mine on the front drivers side. This creates a large area that will not catch the wires if carelessly routed.
