what if you have an old garage door opener. How new does the opener have to be to be able to program it?

mine was a 1984 sears opener (with the dip switches)... it worked fine

just press one of the home buttons it until it starts blinking... then press the garage door open button on the original remote... it will learn the signal... kind of like setting your favorite radio stations

kind of off-subject but....
My garage door "open" signal from the Camaro is very weak.... I have to be right up against the garage door to make ot open. My original remote would work from 4 houses down.... Is there any way to bump up the signal strength?

The home link site has videos on how to program any of them. The rolling code ones just have to be done from the actual opener instead of the remote.

yeah thats exactly the same as if you ordered an extra door opener from the manufacture for extra cars you may have. so i just don't see the confusion your adding essentially a new clicker so it's the same :iono:

Yeah, that makes sense. We'll just have to keep working on it. Afterall, it took nearly 10 tries to get the Bluetooth to recognize and connect with Steve da Wrench's cell phone.
