Cam install cost

Thinking of doing a rough idle cam for my 2010 ss, my question is how much are people/shops getting for installs? I have $2500 for cam and install, is this realistic? I live in Albany, NY.
Forgot to mention LS3 M6
Thanks

Talk to the guys at ECS. They will work with you

That's a good price but to be real sure or u manual or auto transmission.

That's enough. Email Andy at Livernois Motorsports.

M6 package is cheaper than A6...

the labor and dyno tune alone for mine was 2000, that included the torque converter... but that was an A6 with LS3 conversion costs.

I imagine labor for the M6 would hover around 1-1.2k with another 500 for the dyno tune.

All well worth it bro.

Find a competent private installer. You can get cam/spring installs for about $200.

Are you guys giving numbers on just the labor, or the parts too? I was quoted around the 4k mark for a TSP kit, with a new chain and tune.

I have also seen huge differences in price depending on the area the shop is located. The south tends to be cheaper while northern states run higher on cost. I say they "tend" to run this way from what I have seen, doesn't mean they all work that way.

Where I just had my car built I was quoted $2990 for a TSP cam, Comp Springs, Rods, Lifters, DOD delete, and tune. This was for an auto trans. Of course though I kept calling with, "O i want this, and O gotta have that, and it kept happening like I was possessed by mod demons. So what was supposed to get done for just under $3K ended up costing me just under $6k .

I got the invoice and was like :barf: But also very happy.

This was for parts and labor.

That does seem a lil high for an M6.

My A6 with conversion included, trans cooler, stall, high volume, ported TB, LABOR and TUNE came in at 4.7k.

That price seems way too low. I wouldn't trust someone that only charges $200 for a cam and spring install. Most shops around here charge $1000 - $1250 labor only. That is why I did my own install.

It does sound too good to be true, but when you have done well over 200 cam installs you know what you are doing. It works out to about $40-$50 an hour, which I think is very reasonable. The prices everyone is quoting around here work out to about $200 an hour :confused0068:

hmmm $200 seems too cheap...
Shop here charges $72/hr for shop labor. They estimated 4 hours just to drop the eng & trans then 7 hours install time for all the parts and 4 hours to put it back in. (15hrs)... They told me right @ about $1,080 for labor + $$ for dyno & tune.

Granted it is A6 and needs Torque converter with a Cam installed and I'm having all 16 lifters replaced along with pushrods & springs & timing chain/gear.
