2010 Camaro 2SS/RS

When I was younger my dad bought a 1991 Camaro RS. That's pretty much where it started. I love cars in general. I have made a career out of loving cars. My main goal while I was in high school was to buy a 4th Gen Camaro. I worked my butt off to get that vehicle. Through the years I really grew to appreciate the GM product line, this is around the time I graduated from college and was trying to find the perfect job for me. I called the owner of our local Chevrolet dealership and pretty much begged him for a job. He asked me to come down and talk with him. I was so excited on the way to the interview. I got there, sat down at his desk, and I handed him this big portfolio I made that illustrated some of my accomplishments academically and from a community service standpoint. He flipped through 2 pages of my portfolio, closed it, handed it back to me, and said "I just need you to come in and answer the phones a couple hours a night". My heart sank. I had this wild image of myself walking into a career and a full-time position. I thought hard about it though. I made the decision to take the position and prove that I was an asset to this company. I made a great impression answering the phones and then he let me go down to internet sales to take pictures of cars. While answering the phone I used to stare out the window at the Camaro's parked just out the front door of our dealership. That's when I acquired this burning desire to get one of those vehicles. I had a 99 Camaro at the time, but the new ones were so incredibly nice that it made me really focus on saving to get one. One month into that I was offered a full-time position as a Service Consultant. I took it and worked my ass off. Anybody that has ever done that job knows that everyday is a stress test, especially when we did the volume that our dealership does. I saved for 2 years and finally bought a used 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS with 3,000 miles on it. It was probably one of the most accomplished days of my life. 3 years roll by and I am offered a position out on the sales floor. So currently I am working as a Sales Consultant, Certified Technology Expert, and Corvette Specialist.

This is the crappy cell phone picture I took the day I picked up the car.

1991 Camaro RS

This right here is what started my addiction to Camaro's. This was my first car. A 1991 Camaro RS! Awesome ride. A lot of people thought the car was really cool cause of the t-tops. Those t-tops sure were cool, until I was traveling down the highway at 55 mph and the passenger side top sucked off the car. Of course at that point I turned around to go find it and when I did a u turn my back tire fell off the side of a bank and then I got stuck. I then had to back down into a corn field and drive over a bunch of corn staulks sideways up a hill. Oh it was a hell of a ride and by far my most memorable moment with this car.

1999 Camaro Y87

The 1991 Camaro had its gremlins. I wanted to get out of it, but I wasnt ready to let my t-tops go. So I sold that Camaro and I bought another one. This was a 1999 Camaro. It was pretty awesome and had so many improvements over the 1991 car it really was something to be excited about it. When driving the car home I was so happy I said to my dad "can you believe a guy like me got a car like this?". We still talk about that quote all the time! This is a picture of her. She was good while she lasted, but the day I bought that Camaro back in 2009 I seen my very first 5th generation Camaro in person! Needless to say I was thinking the 1999 was an improvement! To see a 2010? It blew my mind!

Latest Update!!!

December 31st 2016

I got a few little things for Christmas and figured I'd update because it has been forever. I got an ABS cover from River City Customs and Lighting. Lupe always does a fantastic job on the paint. I got a little HUD empty spot plaque from EmblemPros and I got a couple of reverse light bezels in chrome. I got some cool little stuff and figured might as well show you guys. Hope you all had a great holiday.

Being as I had the heritage stripe I wanted to make it look not so plain.... Had a pinstripe put around the front and the rear stripe. I like this setup as most Camaros around where live have the rally stripe.

I kept the car pretty much stock for the first year. Mostly because the car cost so much money and who has money for expensive mods? Hahaha I got it out this spring and cleaned her up and took some vanity shots.

In my opinion one of the biggest problems with the camaro is that it is so dang quiet with the factory exhaust. So what did I do? Bought another factory exhaust that I understand is made by borla. Gmpp performance axle back. This was my first modification and I'm so happy I got something other than those big honking square things that come stock as mufflers.

And now to the modification that I love the most about my camaro! The GM ground effects kit. I was so happy to get this and it was the first time I spent 2 grand and was smiling while doing it!

Didn't like how they try to make those exhaust bezels look like exhaust tips so I found out that stainless works makes an exhaust tip that fits. So I got the tips for some ridiculous $200 dollars or something (don't think the are worth that but sometimes you gotta pay to get something nice). Cutting off the big 4.5 inch tips and making adapters to fit the 2.5 inch exhaust to the 3.0 inch tip was a pretty big pain.

I wanna make a quick recommendation that some of you probably already know about. Rpi designs is about the best site for custom camaro parts IMO. The make a stealth mudflap that works wit the gm ground effects. If you don't want to sandblast your gills on your car I highly recommend these flaps.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...psdd0cbb98.jpg

They look a little dirty but it does it justice because if they are dirty the are doing their job!

matthew9440 07-14-2013 09:11 AM

I don't know about any of you guys... But this right here?
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...psa3408baf.jpg
That's not doing anything for me. I like to get a little pop in my engine so once again I hit up the guys over at RPI designs and they hooked me up with the custom painted engine cover.

This right here.... That's making me tingle a bit. Hahaha

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...ps4b5c191b.jpg

Also under the hood I put a K&N CAI chromed up

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...ps41429916.jpg

If any of you are wondering yes.... You have a great eye. The CAI shroud does not come painted from K&N so I had it painted and wow it makes a huge difference.

Fuse box cover is also painted. Actually tried doing it myself but the quality of RPI's engine cover was so high that the fuse box cover stuck out like a sore thumb. So I bought another one from my local dealer and had them paint it. Cover was like 6 bucks surprisingly and to paint it was 30. Probably had more in rattle can and time than if I wouldn't have tried to be cheap the first go around.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...ps85775814.jpg

I did however have a successful outing painting my dipstick white instead of that nasty factory yellow.

matthew9440 07-14-2013 09:19 AM

Two words. Sub Thump.

This is one of my most favorite modifications. ******** makes installing a subwoofer system in you car a breeze. It only takes about 30 minutes to wire up with their harness. They also make this custom box that took me well over 2 hours to get in and positioned. (I guess that's kinda a good thing). It was driving me nuts getting it positioned. But at the end my color combo I'm going for was instantly set off.

Bought a caliper kit from duplicolor. Really should have went with g2 because after reading the forum everyone really likes the g2 kit. Local powdercoat guy wanted 380 dollars to powdercoat the calipers. I have seen the exchanges here on the forum and I'm not not interested in having the car down for that long. 3-4 weeks to save 80 dollars. I painted them. Not bad results.... Just not fantastic. Better than stock IMO and they look better with the wheels on than off that's for sure.
