Autocross yesterday at MBR
Had a blast yesterday on a FAST course. You can see the speedometer in the video. Going through the middle section at 65mph, and through the finish around 75mph. Fun day for sure! Got top pax as well!
This is my fastest raw run a 43.233+1, they did a 2-day format for this event. Adding your morning runs to your afternoon runs. So you had to be really patient to not hit cones early on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC_zrJErCfg |
Nice driving brother!! Love your vids, and your car sounds great!!

Awesome!!!
What gear are you in? Putting the power down very nicely. |
I short shift into 2nd a few seconds into the run, and then just run the entire course in 2nd. It's almost never beneficial at an autocross to keep shifting back and forth between 1st and 2nd. Guys will do it all the time thinking it's faster but the slightest hiccup on a shift will ruin the run. Plus our cars have plenty of torque to pull from a low rpm. Coming out of tighter corners you'd think that being in 1st would be the faster way around, but it's super easy to blow the tires off with all the power we have. Being in second gear in a tight spot allows you to put power down pretty easy.

Thanks for sharing! That's great about our cars with plenty of low-end torque plus high revving engine. Track monster...

Awesome, looked really fast and gripped nicely as well - what tyres are you running?

@joelster, thank you for posting!! Great stuff!
Here is what an SCCA auto-crosser from your region looked like exactly 40 years ago! I took this picture not far from you! ;) It is nice to see Camaros now, back then there were none, mostly all 2002s, 911s, and my Volvo. I was an engineer and pretty much had to fabricate everything for my car. Around 1987 I purchased a 350 TPI/5-speed from a wrecked IROC-Z and did a transplant. We had a bunch of gear heads in NYS, guys from Rochester Products, Gleason Works, Tonawanda GM, etc. In 1988, I sold the whole thing and bought an '88 M3 which I still own. |
