Supercharged SS / Slowhawk Performance Build Begins......Now

After a rocky past year with the car and the amount of failures I finally decided it was time for a change. Asking Matt (FSP) to take over the car he immediately suggest that I go straight to Don Kinder and Slowhawk Performance in Bridgewater MA. Matt staright out said that he would have Don tune his own car. That and the fact that there was nothing but good reviews about him made it an easy decision.

He got the car on Oct 25 and within a few days had the engine completely torn apart and the damage was easy to see. (All that stuff is in a very entertaining thread :)). It was clear that I had pushed the TVS 2300 as far as I thought it was able to go. Maybe a little more but at what cost. It was getting ridiculous.

We decided to move up to a YSI with meth but up until today that was the only plan. Well today, we have finally decided on the engine. Well, Don said we do this and I said ok!!!:pound:

There will be no more 376 in the car. I know, it could be hell freezing over, but I'm confident that Don knows how to build stuff to race and survive. It's time to take the training wheels off and join the adults. Don will need to chime in with all the parts and what not but here's the lowdown:

Slowhawk 416 (my new ls3 block)
Callies Dragonslayer crank
10:8.1 custom Diamond forged pistons
Callies Ultra Connecting Rods
Custom Slowhawk Blower Cam
ID 1000's

Dons engine builder is an ex HKE engine builder. Parts are a few weeks out but we have all winter. The motor will be built and set up for the YSI which will go on mid winter, so feb-ish. When the YSI goes on so will the meth. As the motor is getting done the converter will be cut open and checked and same goes for the trans. I guess we are shooting for 900ish rwhp. It's about it getting down the track to me/us, I could care less about dyno numbers. See how long the 6L80E lives at this level. Lately it's been having a hard time living in the 700's.

I'd like to have it track ready for March so that's a solid 4 months. I think we have a decent shot.

The car will remain a 100% full street car but legal to go 9's. No cutting weight so it'll still be 4200# plus with A/C and all that crap

Thanks again Don for all the effort, help, and constant communication. It's much better when we leave matt out of the three way!!:pound:

As soon as the YSI is a available for the C7 Don will be doing a YSI/meth/converter for that car too.

Time to put '13 in the rear view and look ahead to '14!

First off congrats. I'm sure you're excited to see results as much as most of us are excited to hear about it.

It's about time you put your big boy pants on and played with us.:happy0180:

Wuss, ditching the 376 just when the going gets tough.

It will be a fun build and we have plenty of time so we do not have to rush and over spend to get done ASAP.
The reason for the 416 is because we wanted a better crank that will take the load of the ysi pulling on it, so why not go with a 4" stroke. The bigger cubes will make more low end power/ torque which helps keep a more street friendly converter.
My goal is 800- 850 rwhp at 6200 rpm for now. That should be very safe on the motor and put this car safely in the 9's on a bad pass. ( my dyno reads low)

Right now we are waiting on the pistons to be made. Should be about 2 weeks to get in.
