Oil Change

Had my first oil change today. $72.00. 8 qts of Mobil 1. Now I can run 6000 miles before the next one. Guess it all works out in the end. All other cars get 3000 miles. I've heard horror stories about $125.00 oil changes.

72 isn't too bad. Mine ran about 87! It all comes close to averaging out with the longer life of the synthetic stuff.

$115.00 here in So-Cal

Had first oil change done this weekend at dealership $76.
They also said that I could bring my own oil instead purchasing through them.

I bought 10 cases Pennzoil Platinum and 6 Mobil1 filters for $288 and 4 gallons of Mobil1 synthetic with Mobil1 Filter special for $120.

Equates to $40.80 an oil change with synthetic and Mobil1 filters.

Yup, my first one was free at the dealership, the 2nd one (above) I did myself.

acdelco filters run like $3 for mine from walmart. I did my research and they're supposed to filter better than the kn oil filters$14. btw acdelco is what came on mine from the factory.

While the oil may be good for 6000 miles i wouldn't go that far with it. It may not be broken down like conventional non synthetic oil but it does get dirty. i would check the color and smell for any burnt smell after 3000 miles. keep the oil clean and fresh and the motor will last a lot longer.

Autozone had a labor day special - 1 gallon jug of Mobil 5000 for $12.97 with free STP filter. Had to buy an extra quart for my V6. Total - $15.97 plus 2 beers to do the actual change! :D
