Did anyone Use TAPshift during autocross?

If you did how was it? Also, if not... how did you feel about your A6 during the race?

I left mine in drive and ran a 40.089 on my third and last pass. I guess I would have gone faster if I would have put it in "M".

In the drag races I ran a best of 13.72 in "D" and then a 13.3 in "M".

I would think shift paddles would be useless in an
auto cross going in and out of turns. Too hard to find the paddles with the wheel turned.:iono:

I used them during the parade on Friday... That's about the only thing I've found them good for.

Did not touch them on rally course, but did have it in M (sport mode). Never made it to 1/4 's. Maybe at the next fest! I just would have liked to see the rally course about twice the size it was, or actually on a road course. But NOT complaining, it was a friggen blast!!!

I used it... I was in 1st gear most of the time though. It was OK to use for that...

It would be useful to leave the car in 1st and 2nd. So you don't have to worry about applying the right amount of pressure to the gas pedal for the car to down shift. This way the torque is always there.

It's perfect for autocrossing I think.

I dont have the tap shift but IMO it would have been cool if it was a Paddle shift style like in the G37 or Lamb's LOL.. I have the LS3 :D never got a chance to drive the tap shift :(

How is it ??? do you guys use it on the freeway???

StlRomAniaN 08-08-2010 08:25 PM

I CNC'd some paddles ;) I just used 3M to attach it to the buttons, but I'm working on creating some kind of base to completely replace the buttons and that stupid "click" sound lol

It's great especially when tuned. Choose when to shift and you'll get a perfectly executed upshift or downshift (amazing blip of the throttle btw). I use it on the freeway and everywhere actually. On the freeway, say I'm in 6th. I just downshift to 3rd and just hammer away with instantaneous throttle response. No normal auto delay of gas pedal pressure where it's deciding on what gear to go into. It's very fun. Too bad most of these die hard manual drivers never tried out a tuned A6.
