The Captain

Even though I have had my baby since 2012 I decided now is a good time to start a journal.
Nobody had a black on black 2012 1SS/RS in CT so the dealership I went thru found one in upstate New York. I wouldn't call The Capt a D.D. or a garage queen. If the sun is out, and there is no salt/sand on the roads, that's my car of choice. I have taken him on many road trips for work all throughout New England. March 24,2012 I picked him up like this. |
Camaro5

I really didn't know much about modding cars. Everytime I purchase a new car I do find a forum for it. Almost 100% of the time if you have a problem with a vehicle, somebody out there has had the same one and posted about it online.
That's when I found Camaro5.......goodbye money. First thing I did was black out the windows with 5% limo tint all the way around. I have never owned a car or truck for long before tinting the windows. The first "mod" I did after reading on here was a CAI. Now originally I planned on going with the CAI from Cold Air Inductions. The speed shop I dealt with talked me into getting a K&N. |
Exhaust/Blackout/Technostalgia

After the intake I decided I wanted to be even louder so I went with a Magnaflow catback. 3in to 5in tips.
Shortly after that I decided to complete the breathing upgrades and went with Stainless Works LT coated headers 1 7/8 and Hi-Flow CATS. A 3 inch connection pipe was welded in place to make the whole system a true 3in exhaust. I loved the rumble! Sorry for no exhaust pics..... Anyway, Christmas time brought about some more changes. I got a blackout kit from big worm graphics as well as technostalgia tail lights! To this point, everything but the tint and the headers I installed myself to save on some cash. The blackout kit and tails were no exception. I am by no means a mechanic but I have been learning a lot as I go. |
Door Panels/Trim

I had the ugly grey carpet for lack of a better term and I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. I ordered new black panels and took a Tuesday night to install them. I love the difference!

Fort Adams carshow

I went with a friend to the Fort Adams car show in Newport RI and was inspired by many of the great cars there. I want my car to stand out like others, and not go with the most popular products that others are using. That's when I decided, it was time for some more power!

WHIPPLE
After a lot of research I decided I wanted a black Whipple blower. Problem was all of the systems out there were so damn expensive. I waited long enough and the right deal finally came my way. I decided that I wanted to save the extra couple of grand and installed it myself. 32 hours of labor, bloody knuckles, beer and pizza later, the Captain was ready to hit the streets!!!

C-Ya K&N

I was advised that the intake that comes with Whipple would be better than the KN so I sold it. I also found a hell of a deal for a CAI that was powerdcoated and meant for Whipple SC's on this awesome site. So I purchased that, installed it as well as a Moroso catch can and sent The Capt up to Jannetty's to dyno-tune it.
567RWHP 521T Holy Sheet. After the tune the car felt much more free. I really was quite impressed! |
Sorry that these are all crappy cell pics. Also, back to work now my break is over but this thread certainly isn't!

Heck of a build you've got going! Lookin' good! :)
And, I'd also say, you've got a raging case of PERM-A-GRIN as well! :D |
It looks real good. I can't wait to see more.
|
Great build so far man, get some vids up!
|
Awesome build, really like the door panel mod and of course the supercharger! Did the door panels come from GM or are they painted?
