ADM or Lingenfelter or Hennessey or....

Just finished the break in on my '14 ZL1 and I'm thinking about having a 700 or 750 package installed. Looking for input on who would be the best to do the work. I'm 25 minutes from Hennessey, but not inclined to have them do the work based on the volumes of bad press about them.
Any advice/recommendation is appreciated....

SCHUSS 08-29-2014 07:30 AM

I have nothing but good things to say about Hennessey. Love the work they did, great service and turn around. Certainly can't go wrong with ADM from what I hear either.

What is wrong with Hennessey?

They had some really bad issues awhile ago regarding their service and quality of work, bad to the point I was surprised they were able to weather the storm (you can find info via Google). Lately I've heard they turned things around.

Google is your friend... Hennessy (viper) there is a lot of negative threads. But with that being said that was a long time ago, and Hennessy has made some incredible vehicles.

Also with that said, there is a lot of negatives about other vendors on this site and shops, it just takes some reaserch.

Me personally, ADM is putting out some of the nicest street cars and dependable. They get my vote.

Andy at ADM couldn't be more helpful, great customer service ! Goodluck

If I were in the area, I would go to ADM hands down, but I just was not aware of the negative reviews. Thanks guys

They say their under "new management", but my understanding is that John Hennessey is still running the business....and he is at the center of the controversy.

I hear the same about ADM.

Make sure you look at the dates of the articles too. At least ten years ago. He got to big to fast and add to that supplier problems, and you get bad press. Like I said myself and others I know have nothing but good things to say about there work.

mylftft 08-29-2014 08:05 AM

ADM built ZL1's hold every record there is! You will not find a bad review about an ADM built car.

Detroit Muscle 08-29-2014 08:12 AM

I know....most of them are 2002 to 2004, but they show up in 2010 as well. And the list of complaints and lawsuits on file with the state of Texas is pretty long. I'm not one to pile on, but it's a $60k car and a lot of money for the upgrade (Hennessey is not cheap!), so you can't just discount all of that.

ADM is great but they are up in Dallas. In Houston I would check out LMR. I've been nothing but impressed with their builds and talking to them. I would choose them over Hennesey. Then again, ADM is top notch and if the drive doesn't bother you, go there.

thanks very much.....A lot of love for ADM!

When it comes to a quality build I wouldn't hesitate to drive to another state if I know the work is going to be top notch. Seeing pics of jessrayo's car I wouldn't hesitate to use ADM. I would never use Hennesey. Just like I won't use Beck Racing Engines.

jessrayo 08-29-2014 11:25 AM

I vote ADM. I don't think you can get more reliable performance at a better cost anywhere. And if you decide you want to upgrade something some time in the future, you will be hard pressed to find a shop that works with you as well as Andy on upgrading parts. More than anything, Andy is a stand up guy. He can get pretty busy at times but he has a little more help right now so it will be easier to get work done. Once your car is in his shop it will be built very quickly but getting on his schedule can be a little tough.

You will love 700+whp!

Thanks very much....that's great input! Who says Oklahoma and Texas don't get along? :happy0180: Cars bring everyone together. Think I know what I'm going to do now. I really appreciate it!

ADM. Done.

camaro2lt 08-29-2014 12:18 PM

Go with Lingenfelter they do great work

LuckyZL-1 08-29-2014 12:40 PM

ADM is the way to go. Reliability and power. I have a year with mods and beat the heck out it now and then and its still making the power. Just have trust in their expertise. Tell him what you want and let him build it. I also know he can get very busy but he takes care of business. He wont let a car out of there unless its right!

Unreal 08-29-2014 12:40 PM

If he was near LPE, maybe, but he is in Texas, ADM is in Texas, it makes sense to go there.

I believe you have your answer

Word of mouth is usually an excellent indicator of how good a shop really is run. It seems a few members here have used ADM with success and leave positive feedback. If I ever get to relocate to Texas, I definitely would use ADM. We have a Hennessey out here in Southern California now. Nice new shop with beautiful projects inside but I don't hear a lot of feedback from end users?

I think I do have my answer.....That's one of the many advantages of this site.
On Hennessey, I will say from the research that I have done that generally speaking the SoCal operation is better regarded than the Texas shop.

Matt @ FSP 08-29-2014 01:40 PM

ADM, always turns out good clean work :headbang5thgen:

Wow.....that's really strange. Hennessy adds to his legacy....which is not good at all.

Hennessey is WAY over priced!!! ADM will give you a fantastic relilable and super FAST car!!

tones2SS 08-29-2014 07:10 PM

You can also see some of their work on youtube as well. I like visiting all the different shops on youtube just to see what they are up to as of late.

Had an email exchange with Andy at ADM a little while ago. He's currently has 3 ZL1's in his shop for 750 upgrades.
I'm talking to him tomorrow about getting in the queue.
Thanks again to everyone who offered really valuable input.

Actually, on the Dyno sheet he has posted on his website he shows a stock ZL1 at 472 whp. The 750 ZL1 gets 640 hp to the wheels, so it's more like a 170 whp difference.

15K better get you more than 125 at the wheel.
