Corona and winter months are surely taking a hit on car sales. But the Q1 2020 numbers for the Camaro do not sound good.

Q1 2020 was 7,185 down from Q1 2019 12,083
This is -40,5%

I'm usually not someone who reads any Camaro could be discontinued things into these numbers, but it seems like the interest in the 6th gen Camaro is really at a low point

Who'd have thunk? oh wait...everyone.

their demographic is buying trucks, suv's or nothing at all on the lower end and on the upper end they're buying higher end mustangs (due to the better brand recognition and other perceived quality of life features) or the corvette or bmw's (mostly so they dont look juvenile at the office)).

GM should have pushed either a hybrid electric or all electric option for 2020 just so it had something that couldn't be ignored both for publicity and for bragging rights of the brand to differentiate it from mustang and chargers etc.

Nobody cares if the car can go around the track a tenth of a second better than a mustang or other cars. They're all way overpowered for legal driving on public roads. The public has spoken and this level of performance centric vehicle is a niche that few can afford to be involved in and those that do tend to see them as far too juvenile in design.

the people that can afford them want to see more power and more performance and not a face lift that actually hurts the look. Thats my opinion anyway. I would buy another one today if they put the lt5 in it and I have 2 in the garage already

Challenger sold more than 12k in Q1 2020.
Mustang sold a little more than 18k in Q1 2020.

Jaxcam02 04-01-2020 12:12 PM

well they don't advertise the camaro anywhere. i don't know when the last time I saw a camaro in a commercial

Ford and Dodge increase power and put out new models to keep excitement. GM doesn't. They have no idea how to keep the Camaro relevant.

mr.supersport18 04-01-2020 12:18 PM

the Camaro would've sold just fine if they just had not done the refresh in 2019. they should've kept the 16-18 look.

I just bought a 2020 and i disagree.
EDIT: and i came from a 2107 Mustang which i think looks way better than the 2018+. That front end they ****ed up bad

I have a hard time telling the pre and post update Mustangs apart.

I've been growing to like the 2019+ Camaro front ends. It's the back I'm not a fan of.. new tail lights and that extra crease in the rear bumper just don't do it for me. Either way, looks are subjective.

I was one of those 4483. At least I ordered a coronaro right before the shut down....

cellsafemode 04-01-2020 01:28 PM

the general public has a hard time telling a 2011 camaro apart from a 2020.

Exactly. I am one of those who just bought a 2020, and I love it!

GM Financing and GMs rebates are not that friendly to the regular buyer.

That doesn't help sales....either!

How do we have 1Q sales figures the day AFTER the quarter closed? Do you think that every dealer reported their sales by end of business yesterday to be published today? What's the source of this data?

Last I saw, Camaro sales were up 3% in 4Q19.
