ZL1 vs LS3 bolt on
So yesterday I had the chance to run most of the day with a few stockish ZL1s and just playing around they didn't pull away from me if at all.. I was kinda surprised (pleasantly)
I am full exhaust no cats, vararam, Hurst shifter and 3.91s all tuned.. bone stock LS3 doesn't seem right to me.. anyone else have this experience.. |
Yes sir I pulled on them when I was just bolt ons. I haven't raced one now that I'm cammed

I agree because I've raced the Caddy version and they still pull me top end, not as bad, but they still get the win.

I was surprised when I beat a convertible zl1 with maybe just an exhaust from a roll(I think around 20 or 30 to around 80 90ish before I had to turn right while he went straight) and not by much though. Yes, he was definitely flooring it, I could hear the exhaust screaming. Still would love to have one! Lol. oh and this was on the streets of Mexico of course...

Same day, track and +90° Temps
Bolt on SS (413 dynojet) vs cai zl1 112 vs 116 mph traps . The mph should give you a idea of how a zl1 *should* pull away from you . |

Shoulda coulda woulda. Didn't happen though. I'm not saying they won't but they haven't. Look at the fast list for both cars the zl1 is as low as 113mph and a bolt on as high as 119mph. Every car is different.

That's way to close of a race. if I had a ZL1 I would be bummed out knowing that a SS with a few extras and good driver could nose me out a decent percentage of the time. I don't even know if the dude I was running was stock or not. I will assume so though. |

Both cars were getting 2.0-2.2 60's (we both sucked) The Zl1/CAI ran the best of 12.6 @116 iirc , by the 4th run it fell to 12.8 @113 mph . My SS ran constant 111-112 mph , best 13.0@112 mph . So if you look at the Zl1 SLOWEST heat soaked run and the FASTEST bolt on SS run it was close. *D.A. would have dropped the times down by .3 and 2-3 more mph* The guy did sell his car soon after , so did I lol. |
