car sounds like a shitbox

And the sound is worse. The Honda’s petrol engine is a much-shaved, built-for-economy, low-friction 1.3 that, at full chat, makes a noise worse than someone else’s crying baby on an airliner. It’s worse than the sound of your parachute failing to open. Really, to get an idea of how awful it is, you’d have to sit a dog on a ham slicer
LOLOLOL

Clarkson is funny as usual.

tell me that doesn't look like a Prius?? should we all just buy cars that all look the same? maybe we can all just wear the same clothes and go about our lives and have no identities whatsoever??

Milk 1027 05-19-2009 01:34 AM

That was possibly the most awesome bashing of any car I have ever witnessed. :sm0:

Jamestwilliams 05-19-2009 01:49 AM

Why doesn’t he just buy a Range Rover, which is made from local components, just down the road? No, really — weird-beards buy locally produced meat and vegetables for eco-reasons. So why not apply the same logic to cars?

That is the most important part of the article. In otherwords anyone who buys a car built in Japan can't brag about being environmental no matter how economical the fuel mileage. You could drive a hummer and do far less damage to the environment as the vehicle was only shipped across state lines not half way around the world.

That has got to be the funniest car review I've read yet!

I loved the run down on the energy costs and resources necessary to build the "eco friendly" Insight.

Vizon 05-19-2009 05:59 AM

I saw one of those the other day. They look just as bad in person.

Zabo 05-19-2009 07:03 AM

Holy hell.. brb, I laughed so hard that I broke into literal tears. That almost never happens.

Mr. Clarkson, you are a GOD!

It’s the first car I’ve ever considered crashing into a tree, on purpose, so I didn’t have to drive it any more.

They aren't wrong to point out that this Honda is less than inspiring to drive, even if you can still manage to convince yourself that it is good for the world. No good that you do in that car goes unpunished by its hideous packaging, ear-shattering twin-motor arrangement, or its imported garbage interior.
