Mothers or Meguiars Clay
WOW, I just felt the camaro with a plastic bag and I didn't expect that! I could feel all the grime when the paint even felt smooth to the touch with my bare hand. I don't really have the time to order a nano skin cloth so I need an over-the-counter type of clay. I saw the mothers and meguiars clay. they are $20 bucks a piece and how should I go about using it? Should I wash the car first, it has wax from about 2-3 weeks ago on it. Whats the process? Thanks in advance! P.S. Is their microfiber towel that they supplied good enough to use on the paint?

For my DD's i prefer Mother's but both to me are practically the same... in exception that i believe megs is a couple dollars more bc it comes with a little bottle of spray wax and its towel is a little bigger

i use adams,i think it is the best.when you clay bar the car it will take the wax off.

Here's a video on the basic process, no matter which brand of clay you use:

I would choose Mothers because its yellow. Honestly never used Megs clay, I would just pick up the cheaper of the two if you don't want to wait.

Meg's is white......

Maybe they changed it. I had some that was yellow. Or maybe I'm forgetting because it's been so long since I bought clay.
Could've sworn they were both yellow though. |

Yeah it was white, I checked when I bought it.

I just clayed with Meguiars and I would say it worked pretty good. Picked up a lot of junk and the kit comes with 80g of clay, deatiler spray and a towel.

and it is white...

The towels I believe are ok better than the ones at costco 35 for 15 bucks.
I Use the costco ones for everything including my paint, but I dont rewash them just throw em out after one use. Have had no swirl marking with the costco ones (some lint but my car is yellow and the towels are yellow) so I believe these should be fine if using with quick detailer. The costco ones and the one included in the kit I wouldn't use for wiping off wax or something that has low lubricity since the odds are better of scratching when working on a dry surface with a dry cheap microfiber. |
Oh and dont use the tag when wiping your car obviously.

You're right it was 160g.
