GMPP Exhaust melting my car!

Pics shown! Got them installed at my dealership (Pohanka Chevy of Chantilly, Virginia). I called and told them they were melting the plastic BEFORE I had my NOWEEDS diverter installed. They are now saying the Diverter is the reason that it's melting because having those installed moved the axle-backs...even though I called before they were installed. Terrible dealership, BTW

wtf?

Hmmm, seems like the pipes should stick out some more. Have you tried to loosen them and bring them out some more?

I didn't install it. Dealership did. I asked him if that may have been it. He said "my guys always put it on right. Perfectly centered and put on the exact amount. They slide back and then you clamp it and when you put those bolts on, they don't move."

AKA they did and wont fix it.

:mad0260::facepalm:

edit: Also, bring it out more would just make the melting be visible from the back...=\

Bummer!

Mine is not doing that. What really looks bad is what the heck is all the high heat looking stuff on the top of the tips. I mean it looks like you have alot more heat in the exhaust that far back and you have lots of spots inside your tips.

YOUR DEALER IS AN IDIOT. I have the same exhaust and I put mine on myself. Yours is not sticking out far enough. You have about 2" of play if you cut your exhaust where the instructions say cut. And you can easily push them in to far and get this as a result. I would go down there and let some heads roll if it was me.

Should have taken it back before you modified their work by installing the diverter-they've found an out and unfortunately you probably are stuck. Sorry to hear of your problem.

Can someone post a pic of how far out the GMPP exhaust tips should stick out (if that's the issue).

I now have concerns that mine might not be out far enough.

Guys, your 2 inchs of play is at a 45 degree angle. That is to center it with the hole. You are not going to have alot of back and forth movement on how far they stick out. Look at how the top of his tips have burn marks forming. That exhaust has something done to it making it hotter back there than it should be.

"WARRANTY" item.

Scott@Bjorn3D 07-31-2009 06:58 AM

He modified the exhaust though with divertors. I think that voided the exhaust warranty and could be causing the big heat issue.

COOL, your car shoots out flames :yikes:

Why don't you try another dealership :iono:

Looking at those pictures, the tips do not look centered in the hole. Maybe it's just the angle the pictures were taken.
