Plugs covered in oil. HELP!!!!
2 Attachment(s)
Decided to try pulling my plugs to see how they were and....we'll....pictures speak for themselves. First pic is drivers side, 2nd is pass. Dealership, here I come..... with mods.....and 52,000 miles......balls......

Looks like this should be covered under the 100,000k lp warranty. Catch can, flows axel back, and injen. Those shouldn't be related.....right?
|
WOW! perhaps this is where all the oil is going that is mysteriously disappearing!
|
Holy cow. That's bizarre. Maybe you're right, Screamin.
|
the oil appears to be on the outside of the plugs, maybe leaky valve covers. shouldn't be a biggie. :)

Awesome catch there!

im scared to find out how mine are going to look tomorrow.
Op, did you experience any problems or bad idle that made you want to check your plugs? |

No cel, no sign other than rough idle and throttle hesitation. If you're having this problem, pull your plugs. But pull atleast one from both sides - I pulled a drivers side plug a few months ago because they're less of a 'pain' to get to. Pull both. |
Are you routing your Rx catch can line over that area?
Looks like the oil is falling in on top and pooling around that left side plug. Perhaps you've got your vacuum leak somewhere in that line (hard plastic is cracked?) and its tracking down something and ending up in the sparkplugs hole(s). :iono: |

Pretty sure I just got an epic 4 hour run-around.
Took it to my dealer. They said they couldn't find anything. However, despite me telling them I suspect a vacuum leak and showing them the picture above, they didn't check anything to do with the valve cover or the plug wells. They hooked it up to the computer, no codes..... told them that. Reset ECU.... did that saturday. They said "oil in the spark wells isnot uncommon for an engine with that many miles"....huh?? 53,000 miles? They didn't even pull that plug! My engine bay is fairly dirty thanks to not running the engine cover and a lot of construction on my drive, and I see no sign they touched that side of the motor. Saturday I'm going to pull all 3 from that bank and figure out if they all have oil. If it's just one, bad spark seal. That shoudn't be too hard to fix. |
well, at least you have it documented in case it becomes an issue in the future.
