Kronix SS, the transformation begins.....ZLX[COTW 3/26/12]Under New Ownership

The start of something special begins.....

What's up C5ers,
I'm glad to have found the best Camaro forum out there as I was researching my future SS. Since I'm fairly new here, I'll also give a brief bio & introduction. I recently moved from the South Jersey/Philly area to Central Cali in April (but I'll be moving further south between LA & SD within the next few months). I still have properties & business back east so I frequently fly home for biz & to catch an Eagles game, although this season has been a catastrophe for my team....Anyway, since living here in Cali I went back east 3 times, and all 3 times I rented a Camaro SS from Enterprise rental cars. I did so because I knew I wanted to get back into a muscle car since my last one was a 1989 Vette that I bought new, I got to enjoy that for 4 years until it fell victim to a high end car theft ring operating out of south Florida...Needless to say I was devastated, as I had planned to keep that car forever.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...x23/Cvette.jpg

My Camaro love affair started in 1984 when I bought my first Z28, A Black Beauty with Silver Ground Effects then a couple years later when the 5.7L IROC's came out, I knew I had to have one. Black on black with T-Tops, that baby was cherry! Well, in October of 1988 while driving in South Philadelphia, I met an asshole that decided to blow through a red light in his red Dodge Daytona (POS), I T-Boned him square on the passenger door and luckily there was no one traveling with the drunk idiot, cause they would've been dead, as my car crushed his to the center console. I can still remember everything in slo-mo as if it were yesterday, my tops blew off on impact, the car wound up facing 180 degrees the other way..total freakin mess, but plenty of witnesses around & clearly his fault..so I got a nice settlement between him & the City of Philadelphia due to malfunctioning stoplights.....The Vette came when I got my first check, and modded that baby to the hilt!!!

Now, 3 Chevy Tahoes later, and after driving a couple of SS's, I started my search. I knew I wanted a Black on Black 2SS, with LS3 tranny & a sunroof. Since central Cali is a little on the slooow side, my choices were limited, I had just gotten back from a trip back east and drove by the only Chevy dealer with 40 miles and right out front were 3 brand new Camaros, and I spotted a Black SS. I swing by and prayed it was a manual tranny, but unfortunately it wasn't. They tried real hard to sell me that car, I have excellent credit so they were rolling out the red carpet, but after driving both the auto & manual, I just couldn't give in and settle for the auto. I continued my search, luckily I made a call to Paso Robles Chevy/Caddy, which is about 40 miles north of me and spoke with an awesome salesman, Dave. I gave him my criteria and he said to give him a day, well long story short, there was nothing in the state that matched, but luckily they located a loaded 2011 2SS/RS with everything I wanted in Nevada. 24 hours later they had flat bedded to the dealership and came down and picked me up to do the paperwork. Never in my life have I purchased a car from a dealership so quickly & smoothly as I did from Paso Chevy. So anyone in the CenCal area, they're the ones to go to.

Now the whole time I was searching & researching, I was also putting together my modification list. I knew the first thing I wanted to do was add a supercharger, because I found out that a company called SLP (Street Legal Performance), has been working with Chevy for a few decades, making SS & special edition cars. Well I discovered that if I bought a SC from them & had my dealer install it, I'd be able to maintain the power train warranty & engine warranty...I knew they were the way to go, I got turned onto the west coast regional manager, Rick Hill and he was fantastic helping me with my project. Also the Service Manager at PR Chevy, Mike Tate, was very excited to do the build, as was the owner of the dealership. This would be their first & it opened the door for them to start working with SLP, so I also received a generous discount for putting the two together.

So my order from SLP included the 650HP Supercharger, the performance spring/sway bar kit, skip shift, Loudmouth II exhaust, custom engine covers and the optional 5year/100K mile warranty. That covered under the hood, for now. Unfortunately, they will not warranty an upgraded cam or headers, even if it's their products. But 650HP + will be good enough for now

I had already been putting together my cosmetic list & starting to acquire them. Here's a list of everything so far:
*MTX Sub Box from GM (I'll be upgrading to a Double Din Head Unit when the 2012 models come out, with the help of Double D Mods)
*Smoked Black Tailights courtesy of www.smokedouttaillights.com
*Matte Black Taillight Bezels & Black Camaro lettering from forum member Overhaulengines (Thanks Lupe)
*Valentine 1 Radar System in my rear view mirror courtesy of Scott at www.radar-mirror.com
*Heritage Grille from Paul at GMPartshouse
*Matte Black Billit Fuel Door (CAMARO)
*Fieldgoal00's DRL Harness & AAC Plasma Fog Lights
*Gloss Black Billit SS emblems front & rear to replace the bow ties from Sparks
*Powdercoated Black SLP Exhaust tips
*Eric from MPD1 is making some awesome products, so I went with his Z-Force Hood, Rear Spoiler & their new smooth rear exhaust panel to replace the stock diffuser.
*I chose to go with 3dCarbon for my ground effects, as I really like their front fender functional vents. I also got their 4 piece ground effects, because I like the fact that their parts are high injection polyurethane. So front air dam, side skirts & rear spats should flow nicely with the MPD products.
*ZL1 Front Bumper with Splitter conversion by Gary's Customz & Ofer's Lighting Harness
*AAC Ghosted Black LED 4 piece side marker kit (Looks Awesome, Thanks Jonathan!!)
*AAC High Output LED Tinted Reverse lights (Tinted Black)
*AAC Kitt Scanner lights 1 red & 1 white mounted behind the grille.
*Lloyd SS floor mats
*Car already had the red/blue ambient interior lighting.
*Glossy Black Painted Interior-Shifter Bezel, Speedo/Tach, Steering Wheel Bezel, Long Side Center Console Strips. Painted by River City Creations
*For the added HP, I knew I'd need more rubber to keep her locked down, so working with Sean at WSI I went with the 22" Staggered Giovanni Kilis matte black rims(9x22 F & 10.5 x 22 R) with Pirelli P-Zero Nero rubber (265/30 F & 315/25 R). Sean was AWESOME to work with, so I highly recommend him & WSI.
*SLP Removable License Plate Holder
*Windows got 30% tint
*Hydro-Coated Engine Covers, Fuse Box cover, Rear Drain covers & CAI Lid from Roger at Emblem Pros, he does awesome work for a fair price!
*Personalized License Plates (Narrowing it down)
*Performance & Handling Upgrades, So Far: Pedders XO Suspension System with Full Alignment Kit, Pfadt Rear Trailer Arms, Pfadt Bushings & Bearings, BMR Bushing Kit, ZL1 Fuel Pump, Jannetty Racing Tensioner with Pulley, 3.6 Pulley
*Autometer Dual Gauge Pod with ProSport Boost & Air/Fuel Ratio Gauges
*Custom CAI, Inc Cold Air Induction Hydro-Coated with Plexiglass removed to promote true Ram Air Induction.

**I'm sure I forgot a few things, cause I've been on a buying bing!! But I'll add as I remember them..

Well, that's everything I've bought and the car presently is at my friend Ray's shop, Extreme Auto Works in San Luis Obispo. I should be picking it up Monday with the new exhaust, performance suspension, skip shift & wheels installed. Then it's off to PR Chevy to make this baby really come alive with the Supercharger next week. So many more pictures will follow. By the time the SC is installed, I'll have the hood, rear spoiler & smoothie rear from Eric @ MPD, then it's back to Extreme for fitting, along with the 3dCarbon kit, Taillights, Blacked Bezels, Debadged, Heritage Grille, V1 Radar System, then off to the paint shop. I'm working on a special Matte Black/Gloss Black paint scheme (more on that later :D )

So, this is the start of my build journal. I hope you all will enjoy my updates and feel free to comment and give advice or ask questions. I look forward to meeting fellow Cali Camaro owners and attending as many events as possible.

Now for some pics....

MPD's Smooth Rear Exhaust Panel should fit nicely with the rear spats
This is the Rear Panel I ordered from Eric, obviously mine will not say "Nickey" on it.

Nice rims... I dig the kit as well.

2010 SSRS 12-11-2011 12:53 PM

looks great

Kronix 12-11-2011 01:06 PM

Thanks guys, they're so many awesome Camaros on this site, it's great seeing everyone's personalization!

Angel are they the same rims that you have? If so, how do you like them? I noticed that some of the spokes actually stick past the tire, so parking next to a curb must be done with EXTREME care!

RED DEMON SS 12-11-2011 08:56 PM

I am really digging your wheels and your build, will check back often for updates!

Well the first round of mods is done, just waiting on the alignment and I'll have her home tomorrow. I can wait to feel the handling differences and also freeing up the restrictive exhaust, plus I got rid of the annoying 1-4 shift.

Installed this week:
*SLP's suspension package, which included new springs to drop it an inch both front & rear, and 29mm sway bars with 2 way adjustment in the front & 3 way in the rear.
* SLP's Loud Mouth II exhaust with powder-coated tips. I love the sound of the exhaust now! It finally sounds like there's more than 400HP now. Once I get her home tomorrow, I'll try to do a sound video before the SC gets installed.
*Skip Shift Eliminator
*22" Giovanni Kilas wheels & beefed up P-Zeros

It'll be nice to hear the engine opened up, sit a little lower and feel the upgraded handling & cornering over the next couple of days. Next week she gets round 2 and has the SLP TVS 2300 SuperCharger installed, then it's into the 600+ club :happyanim:

Here's some better pics, now that she's home for the weekend. It's remarkable the improvements in handling that the performance springs & sway bar make. I really like the adjustability option of the sway bars, and when you look at the Eibach bars compared to the stock ones, you really see the quality. Much larger diameter and the adjustability factor.

The biggest difference is the exhaust.....now I know why I love V8s!! SLP's LoudMouth II exhaust really opens the flow up, in both back pressure & sound. Got to love when you downshift and it's rumbling & popping!!

Ordered this week: Black Billit Catch Can with Black Aeroquip hoses & an Oil Cap Breather, from forum sponsor, D Revolution Motorsports , Johnny Rameriz...Johnny's a great guy to talk to about Superchargers and any other engine mods, as he's doing some crazy stuff down there in FLA..Thanks Johnny!

Catch Can

Breather Cap

I also picked up some more stuff from AAC, the White LED Scanner Light, Upgraded Plasm LED bulbs for my DRL to go with the harness I picked up to keep the DRL on along with my headlights, and lastly I got a Blue LED Dome lighting to go with the already installed ambient footwell lighting.

Next week she gets dropped off at Paso Robles Chevy/Caddy to have the SLP (WARRANTIED) :happyanim: TVS 2300 SuperCharger & Tune. And I just spoke to Eric @ MPD and my Z-Force Hood, Spoiler & Smooth Exhaust Panel is getting shipped today, so that'll be dropped off at the paint shop along with the 3dCarbon 4 piece kit + Front Fender Vents.

Stay Tuned for more.....

Swapping out Tail Lights & Bezels

Well I did a little cosmetic mod over the weekend, in preparation for getting the TVS 2300 installed (hopefully this week). I figured I would document the cosmetic mod and make a DIY, since I didn't see one for both bezels & tail light removal & replacement, you can find it Here

I must admit with the proper tools, these Gen 5 Camaros are fairly easy to work with & plenty of fun!!

Here's some completed pictures

The next 2 weeks should really bring my Camaro closer to where I want it, the MPD Hood, Rear Spoiler & Smooth Rear Exhaust Panel were shipped Friday, so as soon as they arrive here in Cali, they'll go to the paint shop along with the 3dCarbon Front Fender Vents & the 4 piece Ground Effects Kit. In the meantime, I'm waiting on the dealership to tell me when they can install the TVS 2300 Supercharger. Hopefully that can happen, while the parts are being painted, and I can work on what I'm doing to the interior. I think today I'll start removing the badges....Maybe my Heritage Grille will get delivered today :thumb up: and I can do that also!

I enjoy documenting everything here in my journal, it's a great idea that this forum has, I hope you guys enjoy the transformation, as well.

I'm hoping the dealership calls and says the car's ready to be picked up, pics will follow once I get her back!

Kronix 01-10-2012 02:06 PM

I'm now the proud owner of a Supercharged Camaro SS! I picked up the car this morning from the dealership, and it's now an entirely different car! I must say that Paso Robles Chevy did an awesome job on the install, they had their top Master Tech do the install and I emphasized that I was in no rush, I just wanted it to be perfect, and they didn't disappoint. The tech ran through everything with me, and showed me all the little things, he was awesome and it looks like it came right from the factory.

He had nothing but good things to say about the SLP support he received when he called them, and that it was an excellent kit, that was very thorough with easy to follow directions. They enjoyed doing my car so much that they are now an authorized retailer/installer for SLP, and they have me to thank for that and they reflected it in the install pricing.

Under regular driving conditions it drove just like before, but when I hit the gas, the fun really begins!!! I was in triple digits in no time! It's a remarkable feeling getting pushed back in the seat like that....I am one happy SS owner!

I'll enjoy it for a day or so, then it's back in the shop for the installation of the MPD1 Z-Force hood, rear spoiler, smooth rear exhaust panel, the 3dCarbon Front Fender Vents & their ground effects. Then I'll work a little more on the already modded suspension, adding to the already installed Eibach Performance Springs & Sway bars, will be the Granatelli 1G Suspension Brace kit, Pfadt Race Rear Arm kit,and BMR Bushings. Then to finish everything under the hood, the install of the Granatelli 80K Coil Pack, Hi Temp Coil near Plug wire kit, my black Billet Catch Can along with an oil breather cap and lastly, swap out the SLP Blackwing tube & filter for a Cold Air Inductions black powder coated CAI.

The remaining exterior mods that I have lined up are the Heritage Grille with black billet SS, to replace the bowtie. Removing the rear bowtie for another black billet SS emblem and then remove the chrome Camaro side script for flat black ones. I also have some custom badges coming from Emblem Pros, and custom hydro coated engine covers to work with the Supercharger.

When it's all finished I'll take it down to Granatelli Motorsports to throw it on the Mustang Dyno and get some numbers!

Here's some pics of the SC:

got any pics of that V1 mirror?

For the Valentine 1 rear view mirror, I had to send my mirror along with the V1 Concealed Display to Radar Mirror, they then actually put the concealed display inside of my rear view, and do some sort of glass treatment so that the display shows up in my mirror.
Here's the link with an example:
http://www.radar-mirror.com/V1.html

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...splay_full.jpg

The actual V1 radar is then concealed inside a custom pod and that get attached to the rear deck. I have to run the cable from the mirror along the side of the inside of the roof to the pod, then the pod gets wired directly to the V1 Remote Audio Adapter, which I'm mounting under my dash. Using that is how I operate the V1, I can turn it on/off and adjust the volume.

Here's some pics of the custom enclosure they made for me. I had to remove the cover of the V1 for it to fit inside, but that's real easy, just loosen the 4 screws and it comes right off.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...3/IMG_1614.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...3/IMG_1616.jpg

The cool thing obviously is that the display is actually in your mirror, so you don't have to worry about having a radar detector on your front window, so cops & potential thieves won't even know it's there.

To do this you need the V1 Radar, the V1 Concealed Display & the V1 Remote Audio Adapter. The turn around time was 1 day after the company in Texas received my mirror, it worked out good for me because the car was having the supercharger installed & by the time it was done, I had my mirror back. Once I attach the pod to the rear deck, I'll take some pictures of it and the display on the mirror, but you can get a good idea of what it looks like by the website.

The Stig 01-10-2012 07:34 PM

That's pretty cool, how much did it run you if you don't mind my asking

I wish I lived somewhere I could have blacked out windows. A car looks so good that way. Nice build car looks great.

Not at all, the Valentine system you buy directly from V1, along with the Remote Audio Adapter & Remote Concealed Display. That will run you about $490 https://store.valentine1.com/store/default.asp

Then to have everything done in stealth mode by Radar-Mirror.com, will run another $500, but that includes the custom built enclosure. These systems complete go for a few grand at audio shops, so it's well worth and I know from reading your build that you'd have no problem doing the install.

Thank you! I agree, something as little as tinted windows really enhance the appearance!

I have to admit I've never had so much fun & so many options when modding my cars, as I'm having with my SS. Every time I cross something off my punch list, I add 2 more things! Man, I love Chevy!!! :chevy:

The Stig 01-10-2012 09:54 PM

Thanks. Yea I saw a picture of this mod before but never got any real info on it. It really is a great set up.

Kronix 01-18-2012 09:28 PM

Much progress the past week while I'm waiting for the body shop to finish up painting the MPD1 parts & 3dCarbon ground effects. I got all the BMR bushings on, the Pfadt rear arm package, and the Granatelli 1G suspension brace installed. I also got a front fascia close out panel from SLP, and since the body shop already has my front bumper because I'm removing that ugly front license plate and going with a remote controlled Show & Go plate, they're filling the holes left by the license bracket so we're also going to fill in the front mail slot and give it a smooth appearance, as opposed to seeing the close out piece outline. Also installed the black satin billet SS on the new Heritage Grille and can't wait to see that on the car instead of the stock grille & Bowtie.

Here's some pics of the new BMR bushings & the underside work completed.

The pumpkin with new bushings, I will admit the BMR kit is so superior to the stock bushings, makes you wonder with GM puts that shit in there.

It really is awesome doing everything on a brand new car, no dirt, no caked on greasy grim, the car's so damn clean it really makes this transformation so nice & easy. Although getting some of the stock bushings out were a real BITCH!

I also ordered a set of Stainless Steel Brake lines from Granatelli Motorsports. Those guys have awesome products for the Gen 5, if you haven't checked them out you really should. Ask for Richard or Jassper and they will REALLY take care of you with products & pricing!!! I cannot thank them enough!!!
http://www.granatellimotorsports.com/index.html

I also decided to go with an aftermarket shock since the whole suspension has been redone, why not add better shocks. I'll be researching them tonight.

Thanks for looking & following my build! :chevy:

RED DEMON SS 01-18-2012 09:43 PM

She is coming a long real nicely! Welcome to the Supercharged Camaro club also, lot's of get up and go now i'm sure!

Tom D 01-18-2012 10:21 PM

You are going to Love the handling now with that Granatelli 1G upgrade. She will feel like she is ready to handle the hills above Santa Barbara at WOT. Can't belive how tight mine is and didn't lose any ride comfort. Hope this is all done for the 28th. I would really like to look your car over.

CausticGuy 01-18-2012 11:41 PM

Good work so far! Subscribed.

Kronix 02-01-2012 05:38 PM

Well it's been over 2 weeks without my SS and I'm freakin going crazy!! There were some delays at the paint shop, but all the parts have been sprayed, buffed & shined (so I've been told) and everything should be put back together by Friday. In the meantime, while it's at the performance shop, we got the Granatelli 80K Coil Packs & Wires installed, along with the D Rev Black Billet Catch Can with Aeroquip hoses (Really nice product, thanks Johnny @D Rev). Also installed the black powder coated CAI and it really makes the engine compartment look much better, plus it'll breath a lot better. Also installed the V1 radar pod on the back deck, as I got the remote unit put inside my rear view mirror. I also went ahead and added Granatelli Steel Braided Performance brake lines, to improve brake system effectiveness and longevity; as compared to the stock system. The stock brake lines on the Camaro, like most O.E. systems, are soft rubber which is subject to pressure spikes and a spongy pedal feeling with aggressive driving and all around fast stopping. (I'll have pics of these also).

I've got something special planned for the SLP Engine covers. Since they're in 2 pieces per side, I've gotten the larger piece painted gloss black & then I'm getting the smaller of the pieces & also the Fuse Box cover hydrocoated a pretty cool design. More on that to come, but you can see the unfinished pieces below.

In preparation for the new hood, ground effects & spoiler we removed all the factory parts today. I must admit it sucks seeing your new car disassembled, but I know it'll be well worth it. I also tinted the AAC LED reverse lights, even though I got the tinted ones, it just didn't look right seeing the 4 bulbs in there, so tinting did the trick. I'll have pics of that by tomorrow. We're also going to be cutting the templates in the front side fenders for the 3dCarbon vents :confused0068: That'll make me a little queasy!

Here's some shots of the GMS Coil Packs & Hi Temp 0 Ohm Wires. This is a really nice upgrade from the factory coils, and it'll show around an 18HP gain & yet will not void any warranties. These GMS Coils will improve fuel economy, throttle response, and idle characteristics. Increased engine efficiency with improved engine combustion, Rated at 80K Volts, Pro-Series Extreme coil packs offer nearly twice the voltage over stock. I went with the Hi-Temp GMS Coil Near Plug Wires because with the added heat from the Supercharger it'll keep the wires from melting. They have solid stainless connector cable with stainless snap lock spark plug connectors, unique EMI/RMI protection ring and they're the only true solid stainless steel core wire that works with today’s computer dependent engine. No RFI / EMI issues – works with any fuel injection / No stereo noise. They also will increase power to the spark plug up to 400% over stock, while improving mileage and throttle response. High temperature silicone boots, 8MM jacket with fiberglass-reinforced braid with fire sleeves resists temperatures up to 1200 degrees f

The D Rev Catch Can, installed on the drivers side. Notice the Aeroquip hoses, better for hi-temp applications & won't fray like stainless steel hoses.

I should have some pics tomorrow of the V1 Radar pod, GMS Brake lines, & tinted AAC Reverse LEDs tomorrow & who knows, maybe the painted parts will be at the shop because we're really pushing for completion by Friday. Stay tuned & Thanks for following! :respekt:

Change of plans, the SLP/Eibach Springs are out & Pedders Coilovers are taking their place. Got a great deal on them from a sponsor here, Jordan @ JDP Motorsports, thanks Jordan you ROCK!!!

Reason being, besides a better set up, after installing the Granatelli 1G Suspension Brace I noticed my ground clearance was REALLY low, so having the option of adjusting the ride height became a must. They should be delivered next day or so & installed ASAP....This crap of not having my car is killing me, but that's the price I pay for upgrading a brand new car. I want to do all the major stuff now, while everything is shiny, clean & easy to remove/replace.

Since you had your dealer do the supercharger install and it is the slp package did you get to keep your warrenty or did you apply for the warrenty that comes with the supercahrger? 3y 36,000 ?

any info on this would be great.

My dealer also works with SLP and can do the install... also could you please PM your price for the dealer install so I can get a ballpark?

Great question! Since I bought the car new in October and had already known I was going the SLP route (because of the warranty), I did not purchase any dealer extended warranty, instead I went with the SLP Powertrain 5/100K ($750)., they also do have the 3/36K. My service manager was really cool about everything, it was their first time dealing with SLP and they were glad to have formed the union between them, so they were very good to me for doing this project.

Any issues not caused by the supercharger are covered by the standard GM warranty, if the SC is the root of any issues then the SLP warranty kicks in.

PM sent regarding pricing

Geez Kronix, I really hope you can meet up at Supercar Sunday with the club on the 26th.

Your car looks awesome, I would love to check it out further...

Kronix 02-08-2012 01:26 PM

Thanks Shootir! Sorry I missed the first meet, obviously you can see why...I'm really hoping to attend that event, I see no reason my car won't be done by then....(I hope!!!)

Got the Fuse Box lid & the 2 top pieces of the engine cover back from the Hydrocoater, I went with Roger @ Emblempros, he does awesome work! The larger main pieces of the engine cover have been painted to match the car (black, then cleared), these pieces fit on top.

Well perfection takes time, so I've been told. I really thought I'd have the SS on the street by now, but with me adding things & the painter getting backed up, it's just taking longer than expected.

First thing I changed this week, was taking out the brand new Eibach/SLP performance springs and installed the Pedders XA Coilovers. I figured I need to do this right the first time.

Here's some Pedders, BMR & Pfadt eye candy...You can also see the Blue SS Brake lines by GMS in some of the pictures. Great product GMS!

Should have the ground effects on by Monday & then break out the air saw for the 3dCarbon Front Fender vents, won't that be fun taking a saw to a new car!

Also installed an AAC Knight Rider LED strip thats mounted behind the front grille. Working on the DRL harness & LED switch for inside the cabin. Just order a set of Prosport EVO AFR & Boost gauges, along with an Autometer Dual Pod of the A Pillar (Thanks for the help AngelSpeedFreak), those parts will be here early next week. Ran into an issue with one of my AAC Reverse taillights, we tinted them and then after installing realized the right one wasn't working. I hit up Jonathan at AAC and he's sending one out to me ASAP.

I was really pushing for completion this week to hit up Dyno Day at Granatelli Motorsports, but it just wasn't happening. I'll see my fellow 4 C clubbers next time! My favorite saying has become, "Next week" when people ask when the car will be done.....So until next week! :respekt:

Kronix 02-22-2012 07:50 PM

Well, all body parts are painted and ready for install, besides the Z-Force hood, did that last week. Today was the day to take the air saw to the side fender for my 3dCarbon Fender Vents...A steady hand was definitely required for this, plus a little bit of craziness is needed to cut a brand new car :yikes: Thanks to Lupe from River City Creations for the info on cutting the fender!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...3/IMG_1813.jpg

Sorry for just the one pic, but I'll have plenty more in the next day or so and hope to have the car done real soon, it's been almost 6 weeks now without my car :mad0259: but when it's done, it'll be exactly how I want it & upgraded in every aspect. Also going with the Prosport Evo Boost & A/F Gauges fitted in the Autometer A Pillar pod, thanks to Angel Speed Freak for all the help with gauge selection!

ALLTRBO 02-22-2012 08:56 PM

I've been watching this, love the build!

I'm very interested in seeing the 3dcarbon GFX installed, as that's what I'm going with on my new black SS. Should look great!

Kronix 02-22-2012 09:40 PM

Thank you ALLTRBO, it's taken a little longer than expected, but I'm partially to blame as I keep adding stuff while it's in the shop getting the original punch list done, i.e., coilovers, SS brake lines, and now gauges & the A Plllar pod. You are really going to be happy with the 3dCarbon GFX package, very well made & it's a poly-urethane so it's flex and not crack. Please let me know when you're going to order & I'll tell you who to speak with, they discounted my order heavily!! I should have the GFX & the rest of the MPD1 parts installed by Friday, so I'll definitely have more pics.
Thanks again!

aquablueL99 02-23-2012 10:58 AM

Kronix,
What a nice build. You have done so much to her. I like the photos that keep us up to date...Keep up the nice work......:chevy:

Kronix 02-23-2012 11:44 AM

Thank you Aquablue, it's been really addictive but I don't have to tell you that, I just read your build thread...WOW awesome work my friend! What an opportunity to have both of those beautiful Camaros in your garage, stunning!! I definitely agree with you about Roger @ Emblempros, what a great guy and awesome products! I'm not done with him yet either....I'm saving the pics of the badges he made for me until I put them on, but awesome work and he's a great guy too!

Cool! I'm not far off from ordering, just have a few other things to buy for it first. I know how you feel. Once the mod bug bites, the infection spreads very quickly!
I'll make sure to bug you when I'm ready. :w00t:

Can't wait for pics!

Really liking what youve done so far. I see alot of my wish list on your car haha. Can't wait to see the 3D carbon kit installed. Im thinking about ordering the 6 piece kit and want to see it installed in black. Subscribed!

Kronix 02-26-2012 07:09 PM

Well, we ran into a few snafus this past week to delay progress. Number one was when we realized the MPD1 hood has less space under the hood than the stock one, and since I just installed the Pedders XA Coilover system the little adjustment knob was rubbing the hood. :mad0259:
I made a call to Pete at Pedders but they were already closed, but we communicated over the weekend and he said all I have to do is set the knob where I want it, then simply remove the knob and keep them in the glove box. At first I thought we could use a router or dremmel and just tweak the underside of the hood, but at that location there's not much thickness to work with. I also called Eric at MPD1 to inform him of this, I'm sure this is something he's going to want to consider revising on the design.

Here's the pics of the damage:

The culprit:

These are things that happen when you start modding, and putting different pieces on, so I just have to roll with it and move on...So to everyone out there when you do your mods, double and triple check everything, cause nothing comes easy. I heard a great slogan today while watching Horsepower TV, the guy said, "Measure twice and cut once." Words to live by!

I already showed the hydrocoated pieces for my engine cover & fuse box cover a few posts up, here the custom Onyx emblems Roger from Emblem Pros made me. The pics do these pieces no justice, they really are beautiful works, excellent guy & company to do biz with. So much so, that I just ordered the radiator shroud cover & rear drain covers in the same hydro coat pattern & a few other goodies...Keep up the great work Roger! Here you go Kurt!

This badge goes inside on the dash by the ignition. I always believe in understating horsepower, keep them guessing :D
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...3/IMG_1835.jpg

I am happy to say that ALL pieces are now back from the painter!!! So we should have this thing together by end of the week. Of course another snafu we hit on Tuesday, was when one of my AAC LED reverse lights was defective, but Jonathan @ AAC quickly sent me out a replacement and got that yesterday..Thanks Jon!

This was fun to do to a brand new car!!! It's for the 3dCarbon Fender Vents...Steady hand required!!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...3/IMG_1813.jpg

Not sure if I mentioned this but, I went ahead and closed out that ugly, non functional mail slot that the SS comes with. I used the SLP Closeout piece but we filled it right into the body so no visible lines.....Maybe I'll get mistaken for a V6 :D ......It really came out awesome, and I'll have pics of that tomorrow when I'm back at the shop. Also my DRL wiring harness that I got from Fieldgoal00 was defective and made the relay buzz. Fieldgoal was kind enough to send me one out on Saturday after helping diagnose the problem with my installer on Friday, big thanks Jeff for taking the time!!

We started to mount the side rocker panels of the 3dCarbon kit Friday as well, of course the holes that it's supposed to get mounted to weren't exactly on line so we had to drill another hole for it to mount up. Luckily the 3dCarbon kit is very flexible so we had them sit in the sun for a bit to really be able to work it nicely for the test fit. Again, like I mentioned, aftermarket stuff sometimes isn't as simple as some manufacturers lead you to believe, when you hear "just bolt on or replaces stock", just keep in mind it may take some tinkering!

So now that everything is finally painted and delivered to the shop, I really should be able to make progress this week and get my baby on the road, it's been 7 weeks with this build, but that's the price I pay for wanting to do it all at once, and sometimes shit happens so be prepared for it!

AllTRBO & DMWhiteman, like I said, if you're going to go with the 3d kit just let me know and I'll point you in the right direction who to talk to for a nicely discounted "jobber" price....Never bugging TRBO, always here to help! :headbang:
