Tow Rigs and Trailers

Not sure if this has been discussed before, sorry if it has....

Looking at seeing everyones tow rig and the trailer(s) they use. I've been looking at used and new ones. I have come to the conclusion that a custom order is in need. Ive seen 10 yr old trailers being asked for almost new prices. (maybe they do hold their value that much)

The two manufactures I've looked at are Interstate and RC trailers. Both are great however Interstate has driver side escape door. Which gives us sturdy guys a little more room to get out of the car :thumb:

These are the options I've built thus far:

V-nose
20' at the shortest two tone colors (exterior) black/red
Rear dove tail
36" ramp extension aluminum or wood depending on cost
LED lights down the length of the trailer (interior)
Battery kit
Winch plate
Power tongue jack
Aluminum wheels
Torsion axles
E-track flush mounted on the walls and floor
White ceiling
Aluminum cabinets top and bottom in front

The above in a 20'+ 3'V nose is costing me right about $8470.00 not including tax and title. Build time is 4-6 weeks.

Tow rig is a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 Carbon Edition double cab
I will be getting an aftermarket brake controller as well to assist with stopping it all.

I'm not really looking for opinions, however if you want to post your experiences that would great. Of course we all love pictures so post them as well.

PS: Mods if this post is in the wrong area please move, thank you

First measure the length of your car. With a V-nose your limiting yourself to space. You put cabinets in the front of a V shaped trailer instead of a square rounded front is a head smasher.
And I wouldn't put any less than a 54" side door on drivers side of trailer & a front right side door up by the nose. Also get the drop down lever jack stands on the rear 2 back corners of the trailer in case you want to drive your vehicle on and off the trailer with out having the trailer hooked up to the tow vehicle.
And I had a comprissor in mine with a 110 hook up. and outside plug unit.

Yes...I didn't think of the stabilizer jacks in the rear, I'll add those. The drivers side man door is a good size but I'll have to double check on the size. Also the V nose isn't as deep as a snowmobile trailer. Its hard to picture or explain

Doesn't your truck already have a brake controller in it?

Gregss1le 12-21-2017 06:12 AM

it does not have the integrated trailer brake option.

Just added the finishing touches to my order yesterday and has been signed off to be sent in Interstate.

Also great guys to deal with over DR Trailer in Milan, Michigan.

Installed a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller. Did a lot of reading up before purchasing and yes the options are bit over kill but it'll do the job and then some.

Received the call today, looks like I'll be good for a Saturday delivery of the car trailer. Excited to see how it all came about and looks in a finished product, pictures coming shortly
