If you mean theres still a waiting list to get the orders approved and produced then yeah their sold out..... that doesn't mean there not going to make anymore if thats what u were implying.

Every car that will be a 2010 model, even if it hasn't been built yet,is sold !

Don't shoot the messenger and believe me trust the source.

I don't know if it is common knowledge or not. so, I am not revealing my source but it is from inside the four walls at Oshawa.

You can take from it what ever you want... I copied and pasted his reply as written without his name.

They just seem to have more orders than they can fill before the model year runs out.

Still taking orders just will be 2011's

Don't know when there model change happens but usually July for most cars.
Just guessing on that one....:iono:

But why would they stop making 2010's early when they are selling the way they are. If anything they would be extending the model end year instead of cutting it short...

DarricSS 11-17-2009 03:39 PM

I am sure any dealer that has available allocations will take 2010 SS orders till around March.

ShnOmac 11-17-2009 03:44 PM

Im not agreeing or disagreeing with the OP's post.... But I was thinking about this yesterday! lol

I wonder how they are going to work the year change with so many orders for 2010's in the system.... they have to stop building 2010's sometime!

camaro5 11-17-2009 03:50 PM

They will probably switch over to 2011's in June.

I'm sure the SS constraint is impacting the production schedule.

Many of these "sold" units are headed for dealer lots. Almost 5000 available on cars.com.

I'm confused.

So I can't just walk into a dealer on a Saturday and pick one up from the 8 they had in stock? Cause that's what I did. The dealer also mentioned I could order one if I wanted and it would take 4 to 6 months to get here. Fortunately, the one they wanted magically showed up a week or so ago.

TaylorRyanSS 11-17-2009 04:16 PM

So you are saying if I went and ordered a camaro right now it would be built as a 2011? I was thinking they were going to start taking orders for 2011s around july of next year

ABM 2SS 11-17-2009 04:23 PM

Why not add an extra shift at the plant? I thought the new President of GM was reluctant to do that because he thought the demand wound tail off. I find it hard to beleive that GM would cut off oders before doing everything they could to sell as many cars as they could!

Revo1 11-17-2009 04:24 PM

Eh, it's ok :iono:

Won't be able to afford mine until model year 2012, most likely...

Dboy23 11-17-2009 04:25 PM

The dealership I service my Camaro at has like 10-12 cars on the lot (if not more) and I'm sure they've sold at least 50 or more already I remember the day after Veterans day a guy that works there told me they sold 9 cars just that day.

Angrybird 12 11-17-2009 04:25 PM

This is very hard to believe since it isn't even 2010 yet....My dealer does not know anything about it either... of course I Ordered a V6 and he told me that the order would be going in this week or next.

ABM 2SS 11-17-2009 04:27 PM

If there are 19,000 orders and they are producing 480 per day, thats only 39.5 days, I am ringing the bullsh!t bell on this one.

Lets round up, 40 days.

Today (11/17)
Wednesday (11/18)
Thursday (11/19)
Friday (11/20)
Saturday (11/21) - 5 days

Monday (11/23) - 11 days

Monday (11/30) - 17 days

Monday (12/07) - 23 days

Monday (12/14) - 29 days

Monday (12/21) - 35 days

Monday (12/28) - 41 days

Take off two days for Christmas and Thanksgiving so basically by the end of this calender year exactly the 19,000 cars should be built. Confirming the bullshit call. I'm pretty sure they've only built like 65,000 out of the 100,000 they said they were going to build for this (model) year. If you do the math (65k + 19k = 84k) there's still 16,000 more to be built so basically 34 days, so by early to mid February is when they'll "stop building 2010 model cars".
