Surprising how long it's taking for any info. :noidea:

No need for forced induction. LS7s respond well to all of the standard NA power adders, real long tube headers, ported heads, and a nice cam. I'm real interested to see how the power train holds up or if improvements have been made. I'm talking about clutch and the hydraulics, tranny syncros, diff, and half shafts. And the dam axle cv boots. I've had issues with all of those.

a cam will get them to 550whp

at that point what more do you need?

If you really want forced induction the smart move is the ZL1. An engine built for boost and a beefier drive line to boot

GM posted over the weekend the 2014 CTS VSport circled the "ring" faster then a Camaro SS!

Please take the bickering to PMs.

I can't recall hearing a factory exhaust note better than AMG-cars, until now. I swear on my clutch foot that the hair was standing on the back of my neck for the entirety of both videos. I thought Z/28 sounded better before I heard Stingray. Stingray just rocks. I think part of it is the induction noise, but I just LOVE it.

I know the manifolds and larger pipes of Z/28 are different than ZL1. I wonder how much more power they provide. Probably not a whole lot, but living where I do, factory appearance matters. For the first time, I'd entertain the thought of getting OEM exhaust, lol! KUDOS GM!!!

AGM 1LE 09-09-2013 01:55 PM

both cars sound and look amazing

I Wonder how much that CTS-Vsport weight?

Just watched this vid...that Vette sounds great. The Z/28 sounds just mean!

It is impossible to match the speed of the ZL1 at Nurburgring, cornering, braking, handling and ride could all favor the ZL1 as well... Remember, the ZL1 is a one lap wonder, but that first lap is usually a very, very fast lap... If the z28 is down 12mph on the 3km straight, it will be hard to beat the ZL1's time... I think that's a 7-8 second loss right there... I'd have to do the math."

guess who wrote that nonsense in another forum???…hint…"make up". When a keyboard jockey uses the word "impossible" that should tell you something ;)

I figured the "lap of the gods" needs to get done around now so these new videos make sense in the timing and can't you just tell the z was eating the 7.

You forgot about the weight difference. The lesser weight of the Z/28 should be more then enough to make up for the horse power. The gearing could make a difference too.

anuebus 09-09-2013 06:21 PM

I agree with the latter...the z looks stiff as hell and with the ls7 on tap and decreased weight I see the z putting a 5-10 second faster lap then the zl1. they just need to get a perfect lap down. there is always something as a driver around the ring that has u saying "I could have taken that one turn better". remember, the z will cost a lot more than the c7 and produced in fewer numbers so gm is making damn sure it can lay it down numbers wise.

Badman24 09-09-2013 07:25 PM

Man I wish I had my camaro when I went to the ring. I ran a 2000 Saturn ls2 on the ring in 2008. I was still passing people In that car. At that time it only cost 10 euro a lap.
