Locked out, how do I break in?

So I'm locked out of my 2010 RS. This isn't the typical "locked out" situation tho. Was on vacation for 2 weeks and the battery died. So the key fob won't open the door. The other problem is that the door key won't open the door because the mechanism in the door handle is faulty and as you know there arent any other "key" locks on the car.

Is there any other way? I've been pondering my options here. If I could get either the trunk or hood open I could charge the battery. Thinking maybe if I can get up under the front bumper and reach the hood latch somehow. Or has anyone tried to slim jim these cars?

any ideas?

Maybe try and take the front driver side wheel well out, and see if you can get your hand up and around to reach that positive terminal by the strut. Then the negative to the block or so to help charge that. Other than that, maybe OnStar could send someone or open it?

How does OnStar help if the car is dead? Do they send a locksmith?

when I broke down they called a tow truck and I did not have to pay for any tow. I dont know if it was good will thing or part of the package. However I did not read the entire post b/c my boss walked in from behind me. so I scrolled to the bottom to reply. Good luck I would call a lock smith to. Around here there was a tow company that offered $5 unlocks for locked cars.

I thought I read somewhere that they will do that also. I am not 100% on it though

Does anyone have a picture of the inside of the door latch mech? Maybe I could rig up some type of slim jim

On my 4th gen I could pull window out enough to get a hangar in and get to lock slide and got in that way once or twice when it died over winter.

Not sure if you could do something similar with the 5th. Something like the below.

Does your local PD do lockouts?

We use the Big Easy tool. It gets in most cars even if there are no power locks. I was able to use it to move the window crank of a chevy cobalt to get in

Full coverage and a hammer

When I did the custom locks on mine I locked myself out a few times, a regular old slim Jim worked fine.

the slim jim method is sounding like the best option, or atleast the cheapest option.

I've done the coat hanger method before using a balloon bag thing to pry the window out a little bit, but these new camaros have the window tucked up under the roof trim.

anyone know where i can buy a slim jim besides ordering online? I could probably make one outta some thin sheet metal

I do not have any suggestions but I am interested to know what solution you come up with. Keep us posted.

I agree..jack the car up.. securely use jack stands..get under it or take the left wheel off and inner fender..hook up some jumper cables or Battery tender just enough to get power to unlock your door.
