I'm not sure I want a Dealership to tear my vehicle apart, may wait until I have Livernois put a Cam in it in the next year or two and have them do it.

I haven't dug into the posts here to find this answer, will my warranty cover this since I have Headers and a tune?

A tune is grounds for a warranty void. I wouldn't count on GM replacing this part for you. The cooler is a few hundred bucks but not difficult to install.

 DRIVETRAIN warranty void. still should cover gaskets as part of your original bumper to bumper warranty, although if headers = more labor to fix, they may bitch about them.

There are many threads on the topic of voiding your warranty and it seems to take the smallest of things to leave you without one. A recent example is a guy who had his 1/4 mile times (so the dealer suspected) written on the window. According to his dealer, this means he abused the car and it no longer was under warranty.

Sorry about the thread jack, so back to the oil cooler leaking issue...

yes I read all the blahblah x 100000 blah blah threads on it. And I can't believe someone would be dumb enough to go to a dealer with 1/4 mile times on the car.

Hey Louis,

I wanted to see if you might be able to answer this question. If we have headers and a tune, do you think that the oil cooler issue would be denied coverage at the dealership (whether it's the gaskets or the actual oil cooler)?

Welcome Louis.

Any reasonable person would say that there is plenty of information on the issue right here in this thread. If we can read it and experience it and see that the issue is happening to so many others, why is it that GM cannot?

Thanks for your support, Louis. The car is in the shop and I will call for an update later today and post it here. Thanks everyone for your help so far.

Regards.

George

You may want to consult your dealership for this information as to I am unable to diagnose your vehicle. If you would like, I can call your local dealership and set up an appointment.

Also, Louis is no longer taking this forum, he was a temporary back up.

I have headers and a tune, and the dealership replaced my oil cooler and gasket no questions asked.

Good to hear. I'm just waiting to find some time to take mine in. May and early June are completely crazy for me.

Did you have to leave your car with the dealer or were you able to wait on it? I really fear having to leave mine.

Oil pan was warped and the oil cooler line was bad. Oil cooler was fine. Service advisor said the line had a crimp that was not tight. Have to get a replacement for pan and line. Will not have the car back until next week. Disappointing.

Regards.

George

The dealer put a new oil cooler on my car in under 1.5 hours. I waited on it to be done.

I am afraid I might have this as well. My wife texted me a picture of oil drops on our garage floor today. Unfortunately I had to go out of town so wont be able to see exactly where it's coming from until wed. I can only assume this is it with so many others. Sucks!
