Bowtie Modification for the Heritage Grille with SS emblem

Just went by the body shop where my car is having some work done and the owner made a step by step process for installing the bowties on the new Heritage Grille. However, I am having other mods done and unfortunately not the grille at the time. Anyways, he did use my bowtie to document this process.

Here is the process to mount the factory bowtie to the new heritage grille.

The center clips need to be removed. If you just wiggle them back and forth they come out easily. No need to save the pieces you remove.

Installing the clips on the backside of the heritage grille. Center the bowtie in the grille and push the metal clips onto the plastic clips on the bowtie.

Clip installed. The slight bowing of the grille bars does not show from the front when installed.

Very Nice indeed looking to get this grill

Michael_Js 02-05-2010 08:39 PM

Yes, cool! Need to get those clips though. How was the "SS" attached?

JProberts 02-05-2010 08:40 PM

Nice but I think the SS is upside down.

I would check out this website and give them a call.

I think they created a prototype platform today and hopefully have a production solution shortly...but give them a call and they will be glad to help.

Yes, it is.

I don't know about the bowtie in the middle, it doesn't do it for me. The sides of the bowtie don't line up with the grille slots, it looks cobbed.

I am looking into a 68 or 69 original grille SS emblem for mine.
