The diffuser looks great Chris !
Wish they had done that on all Camaros from the factory. Looks more finished... Nice ! :) |

But it's 6 7mm screws and about 8 -10 clips... Quote:

I've also had my eye on that hood for a while... It looks like the final hood isn't going to look like that AND it's not going to be aluminum - it's going to be fiberglass. They released new info this week. Here are the recent pics.

I'll be leaving the aftermarket hoods to you guys.
I've seen many Camaros with aftermarket hoods, and no offense to any of you who's cars are in this group, but I've still yet to see one that matches up all the way around. The gap problems are always there. |

I might want to do that anyway. I don't want to chance ordering and paying and getting one that isn't right. |
I'm now thinking about the ZL1 hood and facia.
|
Quote:
Fascia is cosmetic. I'll leave those to Chris. |
The hood and facia match though. The cowl is wider on the ZL1 and that line comes down (just a little) onto the facia. Also the hood has a bit steeper profile at the nose of the car that is continued onto the facia. It's subtle, but I would notice those things every time I look at the car. Yes, a good body shop could doctor the cowl lines on the facia, but eventually any putty work would show up and start to look bad.
Oh, as far as the facia being cosmetic, that's mostly true, but I think that largeer lower grill on the ZL1 may let in more air than the SS. (I'm speculating there.) |
....and me. Let's face it, I can't get the performance from my car that you all can get.
But that ZL1 fascia is just awesome. Not only will the lower grill allow more air in, it's angled to allow cooling to the front brakes. I've got the foglights already and I'm debating about leaving the ZL1 fascia bottom holes (smaller foglights) open to hit my Injen cold air intake head on and mounting a GoPro on the passenger side. The side pieces that fit in the front wheel well deflect air around the side of the car (saw this in wind tunnel testing) and I'm hoping that will save the rear gills from some chips. The only downside I see is with the car lowered, I'm going to lose some more approach angle. We'll have to see how pans out. You won't see a ZL1 badge on my grill. I figure I'm bypassing the V6 guys getting an SS fascia and jumping right to the big dog. The options for splitters are crap for the V6 fascia. This fascia is just the bee's knees! |

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7008/6...5efa8a69_m.jpg pretty much every aftermarket body panel is gonna have to have some glassing done to make the gaps perfect. |

Just wanted to make sure you saw this week's update from showstopper on it. What do you think of the new look of the hood? |
|
Quote:
Gah! ... I dunno... that's why I posted the image I did and not the new one. I was waiting to see the finished product with paint to compare the two.... I think it will look good but I really wanted the original look... :iono: So we'll see. Quote:

Seibon makes a hood something like that. I found it here.
http://www.kgsengineering.com/store/...iber-Hood.html http://www.kgsengineering.com/store/...&bw=600&bh=600 However, it's carbon fiber. I don't care for carbon fiber and it doesn't hold up when painted. And I found another one on ebay: link. But then, it's ebay. http://i.ebayimg.com/t/2010-2011-201...7Jg~~60_12.JPG As of right now, I'm holding off to see what folks come up with for the ZL1. I'd like to get the ZL1 facia, but only if I can get a hood that will match the cowl "bump" on the facia. I don't really like the ZL1 hood. |
right... forgot about that one..... I'm not that warm on the CF stuff... just doesn't fit for what I want to do...
Hmm... Might just keep the stock hood.... we'll see. |

A friend of mine is actually modifying his stock hood to look like the hood in the pic from ebay. It's actually a copy of the Leno "big chin" hood. He is a fabricator and painter by trade and he said it's taking a long long time to get it right. I was hoping into talking him into doing mine, but he is just too busy I think. |

Oops, sorry I meant to quote. It's ACS Composite's post, but not sure on the hood. It may be the stock hood, just modified from reading their post. Their post was in the DIY ZL1 hood thread.
