I had written yesterday to Chris Hay, the GM Canada marketing manager for Camaro in an attempt to find out when Canadian pricing would be available for the Camaro.

I received a response this evening and the gist of it is that Canadian pricing is still to be determined, but the goal is to have numbers ready for official release in early November.

He confirmed that Canadian dealers will have the ability to accept orders beginning this Thursday (Oct.16th)

You can be assured that I passed on my concerns to him about how the Canadian enthusiast community views the importance of pricing - especially as it relates to U.S. pricing.

Chris has promised to keep me in the loop as developments take place and I will be sure to pass any new info along to everybody here.

Best regardSS,

Elie

I'm not ordering yet... gonna wait and see what form a resurrected Z/28 might end up taking before I pull the trigger.
Definitely keeping my fingers crossed here... and if anybody should feel so disposed, I would gracefully accept some sort of discount should the time come!!;)

Best regardSS,

Elie

I'm kind of worried about the pricing difference since I looked at the pricing of some options between US and Canadian vehicles.

Examples: 2009 Chev Impala SS

Sunroof ............. US $ 900 ... Canada $ 1,340 ... + 32.8% :mad0259:
Body Side Mold.... US $ 100 ... CANADA $ 145 ..... + 31.0% :mad0260:
Red Jewel Paint... US $ 295 ... Canada $ 380 ...... + 22.4% :thumbdown:

I'd certainly like to know why GM feels justified in charging us these rediculous prices and then tell us one price has a higher markup over the others??? :bs:

It should simply be US $ + 10% or 15% max NOT 30+% :mad0260:

I.E.: Sunroof US $900 = Canada $990 @ 10% - $1,035 @ 15%

ALL OPTIONS SHOULD BE AT THE SAME MARKUP TO THE :flag2: MSRP !!!

Considering that the car is being built in Canada... I just dont get how they can ask MORE for Canadian pricing? It defies logic!!

I don't get how we have a free trade agreement yet it has no teeth to be sure that it is enforced.

Hope your prayers come true but it will be almost impossible

The solstice (base model) is 23000 about same as the base camaro in the USA and 28 000 in Canada. It doesnt look good for us.

I'm sorry this price increase has to happen to ya'll. IMO, it just ain't right.

crazz28 10-16-2008 12:48 AM

We're all just big pushovers up here I guess.
It's the same thing with oil, even provincially. I heard Ontario's prices were under $1/L while in Sask and Alberta we're still at 1.10-1.20+, seriously wtf. People that make the burgers at McDonalds get them for cheap, why can't the people that produce the oil get it for a little cheaper?!?!
I'm hoping for a <45000 SS2/RS, minimal to no options. I'll get suspension and power-adders a couple/few years down the road.

Hylton 10-16-2008 06:47 AM

Since today is the first day to order for us, I will be going in to the dealer over lunch. I'll let you know if I get any pricing news.

Hylton 10-16-2008 06:48 AM

Hi Elie,

Did Chris give you any kind of date with respect to pricing availability?

camarorick 10-16-2008 07:24 AM

I'm going with the assumption that GM will price it out as per the competition, especially if they want to steal potential purchases from the competition.

2010 Camaro 2SS/RS = $35,380 US

2009 Mustang GT California special edition with all the goodies:
Cdn = $36,000 ( after $5000 rebate )
US = $34,000

2009 Challenger R/T
Cdn = $38,855
US = $36,500
