What aftermarket speakers are you using in factory location?

What type of speakers are you guys running in the factory locations? (Brand, watts, comp. or coaxial)

If you have Boston acoustics system you have to change the amp to change the speakers due to the crappy 4 wires per speaker BS. This still makes me furious.

Yes, that’s my plan to change amp and speakers. Could’nt find a thread on what speakers members are using in their factory locations.

Technically not true. You can replace the rears with 6x9 components ( tweeter mounts in center but powered seperately. JL, CDT Audio make them. ) JUST make sure the ones you get 2 ohm sets ( CDT audio ) as the OEM speakers are 2 ohms all the way around. ( ONLY if using oem amplifier )

Fronts are tied together. Tweeter pigtails off the midbass ( fullrange technically ) with an inline cap on the tweeter. When adding new components in the doors, leave the factory tweeter wires alone. use the crossovers from the speakers, and the signal going to the 6.5 midbass.

Congrat! More details! How was the install? Was it pretty much plug and play? How does it sound compared to stock?

BAD DAB 06-15-2018 06:03 PM

The installation took a great deal of time. Rear seats and molding had to come out to install the rear 6x9s. New wires and everything. The new setup sounds fantastic. It also woke up my existing subwoofers. Like night and day.
