How Do We Do It? From the beginning, our operation was set up to function as rapidly and efficiently as possible. Most of our order processing system is automated which means that an order can be completely processed and ready for pick up within minutes of the order being placed. Unlike many of our competitors, APEX Motorsports is a stocking distributor for most of the brands we carry and not a dedicated drop shipper. This allows us to ship in stock items the same day or next if the order is received after our last pick up. In the event that an item is out of stock, APEX Motorsports has access to multiple extensive distributor networks and can draw on the inventories of dozens of regional warehouses across the country and ship the item from the warehouse closest to you. APEX Motorsports has another key advantage over our competition. Our physical location. Like Amazon, Zappos, and many other major shippers APEX Motorsports is located in Louisville, Ky. which places us within 600 miles of more than 60% of the United States population. It also places us only a few miles from the UPS World Hub. That means that once your order leaves our loading dock it doesn't have to travel 1-2 days to be processed before being directed to your address. It is done within hours of the order being placed and is on it's way to your door, more than 60% of which aren't very far down the road. Below is a map displaying the estimated delivery times for orders shipped from APEX Motorsports. http://www.apex-speed.com/images/shipmap.gif |
Lets see some for the V6 club. We love our cars also!
|
There is a Retro Chambered Cat Back for the V6 as well.
|
Definitely recommend this kit. Running it on my Camaro and love the sound. You can really hear that V8 rumble now. I've received numerous compliments on it!
|
Are these a DIY?...Are the catalytic converters deleted?...Does it require headers? A tune?...Will it throw a cel?....Thanks...
|
Absolutely. It is a pretty straight forward bolt on install but it is a good idea to have someone help. The stock cats and manifolds stay in place (unless you want to upgrade them as well of course), it is just a cat back system. It does not require a tune and will not throw a CEL.
|
Chase, could you pm me the price, etc....(I won't bother to shop it around if you're sure your price is the lowest...lol)
2011 2SS ls3...No headers for sure....may consider hi-flo cats later, but not now (I'll take the pricing on them, though)...Just what's needed for cat-back, keeping everything else stock... Thanks, Tom Cat-Back system ordered...piece of cake and best price...Thanks, Chase |
Thanks for your order Tom. Be sure to let us know what you think once it is installed.

First impression: Loved how the parts were shipped and packaged. A quality packing job for quality parts...Not one ding or scratch...All the tubes fit together perfectly and were perfectly round, pieces were well marked to eliminate any confusion, and no doing it twice...The slip fit was so good, I didn't mess with the "sealer" (not included anyway...lol)... It was a fun project...If replacing stock mufflers I'd suggest removing the rear diffuser, makes it a lot easier to remove stock one... Tips are beautiful and well polished... Love the sound...not too terribly loud, nice rumble at idle and a great rip when you get on it...No drone on the freeway...I held off for two years until I pulled the trigger on an aftermarket exhaust...I've heard a lot of the other makes, they're nice, but this one is exactly what I wanted. Thanks Chase for a well priced, top quality, do-it-yourself item...Tom |
Glad to hear that you love it Tom. Thanks again for your order.

The CGM SS in the first video just had Stainless Works 1 7/8 inch headers and high flow cats installed yesterday! We will get another video shot and posted soon so you guys have an apples to apples comparison.
|
Damn that sounds good, have you any takers on the V6 system yet?
|
We have sold V6 Retro Chambered systems but we have not filmed a video of one.
|
Is the retro chambered the best bet? I definitely want to order a stainless works exhaust and put it on asap. I cannot decide on the S-Tube muffler or the retro chambered...
|
Go retro chambered, you won't regret it.
|
Dave, the Retro Chambered is the way to go in my opinion. It sounds amazing and weighs less.
|
Awesome! Thanks guys! I will PM you Chase.
|
Thanks for your order.

Thanks Apex

SW cat back system sounds Great. Installed it myself in 3 hrs. and that was being extra careful with the fitment of the twin outlets for the GFX. Took me longer to pull the old system out than it did to install the new Exhaust.

Does this exhaust have any drone? Trying to decide between this and solo-performance. Like the sound a bit better on this but really can't have drone. (Wife and child)
|
Stainless Works Retro Chambered cat back has zero drone.

How about this one

Nice! Thanks for the V6 video.

Direct comparison: Retro Chambered cat back only
Retro Chambered cat back with 1 7/8 headers and high flow cats |
So this system has no drone on its own. How about when you add LT Headers and Hi-flow cats?
|
Stainless Works Retro Chambered cat back has zero drone. Add headers and you will hear more sound in the cabin due to dropping the thick cast manifolds and going to thin wall tubing but it is not resonance (aka: drone). You can still carry on a conversation without raising your voice.

Thanks for your order Klepton!

I ordered the stainless retro chambered catback for my SS earlier this week and got it today. I ordered a catch can a day earlier and got it fast too, which is one of the reasons I love dealing with Apex. Another reason is the price drop I got on this system. Was thinking of going to another company who had it ~$100 less. Apex is so active in this forum that I decided it was better to go with a company lots of people trust and that I already have a relationship with. To my surprise when I added it to my cart, I got a message stating I got some sort of discount which brought it to the price of the competitor.
Took a half day off work today and installed it. I have never tried exhaust before, so I took my time which took about 3 hours from the time I got out the ramps and jack stands to the time I finished and cleaned up my mess. These things sound so good. My car performed like a lion, but had a kitten's meow. Now it has the roar to match it's performance. I'm in my late 30's and didn't want something so loud that it was annoying to others. I am happy to say this fits the bill with the muscle car sound, but not too loud that it's annoying. Haven't had a chance to drive over 50 yet, but will be on a 45 minute trip at highway speeds, so this should be a good chance to fully test it out. I did run into some issues installing, but I made it through OK in the end. 1. Not sure if it was Apex or Stainless, but someone wrote on the parts which was helpful except for the way they designated sides. They used left/right instead of drivers/passenger. Left right is relative on if you are standing in front or behind it, while driver side is the same regardless of where you are standing. I assumed the directions were as if you were sitting in the car, so I went with that. 2. My stock exhaust was one piece, so it's shape was constant. This kit has multiple pieces you put together, so it's easy to get them twisted to far in one direction making them hang down to low. My solution was to put a floor jack with a 2x4 pirce on top under the X part of the exhaust and lift it into place. I then loosened the 15mm bolts where needed to rotate the pieces to make them fit in place better. 3. Instructions mention using a high temp RTV in the fittings. Considering the price, it wouldn't have killed Stainless to put some in the box. I didn't have any, so I did the install without it. In all the various catback install videos, I didn't see mention of this, so I figure it will be ok. I tightened the clamps good, so I should be fine. 4. Stainless instructions were very brief about removing the old system and installing the new one. I found a great of instructions on removal HERE which really helped a lot. Although they used a different brand to install, the instructions and pictures were good enough to supplement the Stainless manual. 5. One of the elbows pipes in the set was several inches shorter than the other. Kind of surprised me this wasn't caught. However, there is a quite a bit of overlap in all the pieces, so I was able to make it up, so the end product was the right length. In the end, I like doing things like this and saving some money. However, I really enjoy trying something new and getting that experience. One thing I am curious about is what all of you did with the stock exhaust. It's one long and heavy piece that I am storing in my garage for now. For those of you that did this at a shop, how did you get the stock one back home? I assume it would need to be cut up or something. |

Cant wait to get my hands on the one I ordered this weekend. Thanks Apex! Excellent customer service, a whole bunch of companys here in Sweden could learn quite a bit from you!

Thank you for your order.

Another video from a happy customer!
|
Ordered this system earlier with a Cold Air Inductions CAI from Apex and finally went over to Stainless Works this morning and had them put it on for me.
I have to say, I've driven on this system for 100-150 miles and I absolutely love the sound! Can't wait to get headers, but that's a later date... Expect a video sometime this summer when I have some free time :). There is no drone, sounds awesome from idle to slow acceleration and quick acceleration to cruising in 5th or 6th gear. Also installed my CAI today, it was a quick and fairly easy install. Took me longer to try and find my 10 mm deep well socket then it did to install lol! Victoria is awesome to deal with at Apex and the guys at Stainless Works also offer excellent customer service! |
Glad that you are happy with it Green Machine. Thank you for your order and for posting your feedback.

Ordered my exhaust back in March and got it within a few days along with a Apex catch can. Very satisfied with the price and speed to get my order.
The exhaust was not too difficult to install. Most of the time was spent trying to get the exhaust positioned correctly so the tips were centered. Stainless Works seemed to make this kit modular so they could mix and match tubes easily (and probably makes the box smaller to ship). This means there are a lot of pieces to connect together. The brackets and very study and hold the pipes together well. One tip I have is to listen to the instuctions when it says to loosen the cat to manifold connection. I didn't do this during my install. I ended up having some rattling after a day which turned out to be from hitting the tunnel brace. The following weekend I went back and readjusted the exhaust and loosened the cat to manifold connection. This made adjusting the exhaust MUCH easier and I was able to put it further up in the tunnel which got rid of all rattle I had. Sounds very nice now and works great. :D I made a quick video comparing the stock exhaust to this one. |
