MPG really bad, something wrong?

So I haven't had it for long, maybe 600 miles. When I got it I checked the mpg average and it was about 14.3, I figured that was just from being for sale and reset or something. So I reset and took a trip 150 miles or so, maybe half highway. Now I know I've been getting on it somewhat being a new car and all but I'm only getting 14.2. I see you guys getting way better. My C6 vette was getting 26mpg and 21 if I was really hammering it. Whats up with this? Car has 8000 miles now.

If mine, I would change everything (filters, oil, etc.). Spray the t/b with cleaner. Drive it a couple hundred miles aggressively on some good gas and see what happens. May just need to be run. ?

IMO the MPG you are getting is a normal combined city/highway for a A6 SS Camaro.

On my ZL1 I get 12/19 for a combined 14 and change. If I drive it had that number drops like an anchor. On my SS Sedan I get 15/21 for a combined 15 and change driving normal. Most of my driving 90% is city stop and go in typical Florida traffic.

Sounds normal to me. That's what I get.

Reset it when you are on the highway.

It's the idling, like at signals, that kills it.

For ~$70 you can get an UltraGauge which can display instant MPG, GPH, etc.

Give it a good tune up, but seems an average rate. I'm currently getting 17.2mpg average, but that was after a few aftermarket upgrades and a tune!

Change out the flux capacitor.

:laughabove: I was wondering how that would help, guess if he can't get good mpg he could time travel to a time when gas prices were low :bellyroll:

Are you running a high octane 91 or 93?

don't believe everything you read hear. 6.2L V8's don't get close to 30mpg like you read here. even the V6 doesn't often get over 25

The_Stache 04-08-2017 05:05 PM

I get 19 on any given day, but mines a manual. High is 24, low is 3.

Most of the mpg # comes from your driving habits.

jc615 04-08-2017 05:07 PM

That's what I get in heavy city driving with big cam and big stall

When i bought my car, they made that 30mpg comment a lot. Fortunately that was not a concern for me. I drive 66% highway and my MPG for the past 30 days is 23.8mpg

Correct,
It's the most exaggerated topic on camaro5. Total 100% highway driving at
70 MPH with cruise control on you will get 24 MPG MAX. That's it, everything
else here is BS. So your average around town and your right in the ball park
with an SS.
