Is there some "engineering" going on with colors and options behind the scenes?

I was wondering if anyone here thinks that the odd color choices and options combinations we've seen for the SS were designed to limit the initial demand for the car so that there would not be as much of a "rush" on the production and disappointed buyers?

I mean, why advertise animations and photos of the HUD and boast about "10 colors" and then make them available in 18 months after launch?

I think it's done intentionally to insure demand is spread out and that 2011 sales maintain the brisk rate of the 2010 model by opening the gates to all the pent up demand for these missing options.

Think of it this way... you go to buy your Blue SS and allocation is all used up because of the high demand for the car. You hear you have to wait and get pissed and buy another vehicle. However, if you hear "Blue is coming in 2011" before you go to buy the car, you go away thinking "Oh boy, I can't wait for 2011!"

Make sense?

You know I'm not totally sure why GM does this. They did the same thing with the G8. They released the Orange, the Black, Red and White all at the same time, yet held off of the blue until the model years flipped over.

I'm not sure why they do this, but it is kind of annoying.
