But seriously, if the tools were available, and there's someone willing, that has done it already, I'd be glad to help. I've done brakes but never on the 5th gen, would be good to have experience close by.

Are you planning full fluid change also?

Have to ... Pete won't let me run anything but his brake fluid that is apparently made from gold and costs somewhere near the neighborhood of 80 bucks a bottle....

Carbotech™ 913 Kelated Metallic™

A D.O.T.-approved high-performance compound for brake shoes on high performance street vehicles and race cars. Carbotech Kelated Metallic (CKM) achieves a very high coefficient of friction (approx. 0.48 to 0.50) by taking advantage of a chemical reaction within the friction mass, which creates a tri-alloy metallic film at the liner/drum interface when subjected to heat and pressure. Designed to overcome the shortcomings of other liner materials, CKM is a very versatile and provides excellent braking performance in a wide variety of applications. Excellent wear characteristics and a very high resistance to lock-up under hard braking. Optimal recommended operating temperature range is from ambient to 750°F.
Here's the fluid he wants me to use. Seems pretty bad ass.

If and when I decide to do the West Texas Open Road Race, I'll most assuredly be looking for upgraded brakes...

Until then, I'll have braided hoses coutesy of Pete, and I may put some better pads on...

But I'm not road racing the car so the brakes have lots of time to cool off after every use...

High speed Internet in the dog house: check

Kegerator in the doghouse: check

Hmmm I cant think of anything else I could possible need in the doghouse. I'm ok with it!

Mr Twisty 07-10-2012 11:05 PM

I wonder..... how come a house never has an area to park a car in the living room?

It makes sense if you think about it.

..... it does to me anyways :D

Redemption 07-10-2012 11:10 PM

...measuring back wall.... No problem, little cut here, touch up paint there, I can fit my car right next to the couch, and the kids mini trampoline.

That's what I'm talking about! I've been eyeballing my dining room picture window closely.... looks like a nice place for a garage door,

i'm starting to think i don't even need a doghouse - the couch in the garage will probably do just fine. that way, fixing-up-the-doghouse money can go to the car too!
