Motor Trend compares the ZL1 to the Boss 302 Laguna Seca
Good stuff, especially from a pro driver and not a magazine editor.
But times aside, the way this cars handling performance and versatility was described is one of the main reason why it's worth the price of admission. It does so many things well in that regard. You can have your cake and eat it too: "the Camaro achieves better-than-Boss levels of handling with the highway ride quality of a CTS-V" |
Can't say I'm at all impressed and won't say these times weren't expected.....
I knew it would do a faster 0-60 time!
Should have done better than that against the Boss.
It'll have a tough time against the current GT500's. |
Thought the ZL1 had forged wheels, MT listed them as cast aluminum in the specs.

Well like the mods of this forum like to say all the time, you can't believe Motortrend because they are Ford guys and hate GM. They must be just throwing the ZL1 a bone until the 2013 GT500 comes out because we all know that Motortrend hates GM will not let the Camaro be on top for long.
I agree, they should have tested it against the GT500. I understand the emphasis was on handling, braking, etc, but it still seems like a bit of a poor comparison. Ford has a remarkably similar car from a specs standpoint, and they choose the stripped down, n/a track car to compare to the ZL1?
With all of the Hype surrounding the ZL1 vs GT500, I would have thought to see a review between the 2. They should have tested it against the GT500
Maybe its just me but I really sensed this hate towards the zl1 in the review. They said the car was slightly better than the boss and hated to admit it. Also, Immediately after the review they were like ok so you won this round against the boss but BAAM here is the 650 hp gt500 and its gonna beat that ZL-1. I'm really starting to hate motor trend why are they being so bias?? its unprofessional

I also thought the LS was THE ultimate handling Mustang...Is that not correct?
