Do I need to wash the car before claying?
I have had my car for a week and the dealer cleaned it but they did not want to get aggessive with the wash since there is still some stuff on the car but they did not want to scratch the paint.
So it has light dust just from driving on it. Should I do a wash and dry with Adams drying towel. Or just clay it? I have the new claying towel thing from Speedy Surface Prep and claying lube. Next week I plan on getting Adams washing package with 2 buckets and their Air Dryer for the car. Should I just wait till then and do the full wash then clay? I want to take care of my Red SS better than I did with Bee. |
It makes more sense to wash the car before claying. Why get dirt all through your clay that would easily be remove by a normal wash. The purpose of claying is to removed contaminates that washing won't remove. I also wash with normal dishwashing liquid before claying so that any old wax or sealants are stripped off the surface. There is no need to dry the car after the wash if you're going right to claying.

Cool thanks everyone. Never went thru this detail with the Bee but I have promised myself to try to take better care of Kami.
Plus no car washes. Purely hand wash on Kami. |
Wash before claying. Any dust or dirt will become trapped under the clay and scratch the paint.
