This past weekend I drove my 2010 Camaro RS from Chicago to Detroit to see the "Chevrolet Dual in Detroit" Indy car races at Belle Isle along with the supporting Grand Am and World Challenge races.

The Grand Am race was held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 and the Velocity Worldwide Corvette Prototype of Max Angelelli and Jordon Taylor won the Daytona Prototype Class while the Stevenson Automotive Group Camaro GT.R of John Edwards and Robin Liddell won the Grand Touring class. Two blue Camaro ZL1's were used as the pace cars for this race.

The first of two Indycar races of the weekend was also held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 and it was won by Mike Conway for Dale Coyne Racing. The second was held on Sunday, June 2nd and was won by Simon Pagenaud for Schmidt/Hamilton Racing. The pace car for both of these races was the same 2014 Corvette Stingray that was used the prior week to pace the Indy 500. The Grand Marshal of each race was chauffered around the track on the pace lap in a 2014 Camaro SS 1LE behind the pace car and in front of a group of 2013 Camaro SS convertibles carrying dignitaries and other lucky people.

The World Challenge race included several Camaros in the field and it took place on Sunday, June 2nd.

Several red 2013 Camaro SS 1LE's and red 2013 Camaro SS's were also used to give hot laps around the track to lucky people during breaks between races.

Chevy had a nice display showing both the new 2014 Camaro SS and 2014 Corvette Stingray.

We stayed overnight at the hotel located inside the General Motors Renaissance Center and the lobby featured a display of GM cars including a gray 2013 Camaro ZL1 (with Official Pace Car decals) and a red 2013 Camaro SS.

Enjoy all of the Camaro, Corvette, and race car pictures!

Nice. The more I see of the 2014 Camaro, the more I like it.

Good pics - not really liking the new tail lights on the Camaro. Maybe it'll grow on me.

I don't think you took enough pictures. :)
Is this the race that the ducks ran across the track?

I agree PalmerGA, but I hate the fact that SS lost the mail slot. That was one way distinguishing between the V8 and V6.. lol

Nice Images! Thanks for sharing. :D

Yes, but that took place during practice or qualifying on Friday. I wasn't there for that.

From Autoweek.com:
"While the racing had its odd moments, the event only did when it came to ducks on the track in a Friday practice. A mother and her five babies had to be helped to a grassy area feeding to a pond."

I, too, wish they had kept the mail slot and made it functional.
