Crank pulley question / help

Need a question answered, hopeing someone here can help. I'm knee deep in my supercharger install and I have an slp underdrive pulley that I had to take off and replace with the old one. My question is my stock pulley had a metal ring on the back of the pulley and the slp doesn't. Do I need this ring on there ?? I lost the ring for the stock pulley I guess. Since the slp doesn't have one on it I'm guessing it's not needed ?? Anyone know.

Ring? Like a washer? Are you talking about your harmonic balancer?

well when replacing any harmonic balancer which looks more like a pulley on the ls3 the bolt is garbage once you have torqued it down once. And usually if there is a washer on a balancer its under the bolt........

That ring is a Seal to keep oil from creeping between the crank and balancer, it is also a bit of a spacer.

Without it you will slightly change the offset of your pulleys and risk a leak.

Here is a pic of the washer you are talking about. It is a friction washer with a seal and it is used to help keep the balancer from turning on the crank.
