We are actually working on a few concave designs..let me know if ur interested and be one the first with true forged concave wheels;)...

RJ111 10-15-2012 02:34 PM

20" billet CCW's, 11" fronts, 11" rears. The ZL1 is no wider, but it has more room in the inner fenders, so you can run an inch wider wheel on it.

racebum 10-15-2012 03:15 PM

Sorry, should be 11" fronts and 12" rears!!

tsnow 10-15-2012 03:28 PM

Looking good Racebum, what are the offsets on the 11"/12" combo?
Thanks-

ZL1 Brian, after seeing your car I am going with the Nurburgring's in 18" for my drag radial setup.

nice thats the one i have seen b4..you sure on 11 front and 12 rears? ... its the same as the SS but has an in more clearence on the inside?

MIKE@TF 10-15-2012 03:32 PM

any reason you didnt do a different style ccw? since the cars are the same color and the same wheel? just curious..

2010 SSRS 10-15-2012 03:45 PM

I would love to see a ZL1 with Bogarts

racebum 10-15-2012 03:50 PM

John at CCW did the test wheels on the checkered board test ZL1. When I called and told him I wanted a set of wheels just like my SS wheels, he said that he could make them wider because the inner fenders on a ZL1 are wider. So I told him whatever, make them however you want, just want the same 540 pattern to match the other car. I have dealt with John for about 15 years and trust him a lot. They are one-off wheels, he doesn't make them till you order them. He has quite an operation in Daytona and does first class work. He can make whatever you want....3 piece, 2 piece, 1 piece. He does lots of Viper and Corvette work. Gonna put wider tires on it, just as soon as they wear out.

Hey,is that stock rubber on the ZL1?

Stock size?

Thanks,

racebum 10-15-2012 04:32 PM

Yes they are stock. Not really wide enough, though. Needs wider tires, the sides of the tires roll in. As soon as I wear these out will get wider. The stock sizes are 285/35 front and 305/35 on the rear.

Is it just me or do you guy's think 20's will be a better look on the ZL1 than 22's. Racebum I love your Z! The perfect blend of show and go.

Definitely peaked my curiousity. I have a victory red ZL1 convertible with the GM polished 5 spokes and am not a big fan of the wheels. I have been actively looking for the past week or so but haven't found anything I have fallen in love with yet but like the concave look. Looking for something with chrome and/or red in it.

I've done my homework on wheels,I've had 360,IFORGED,HRE,and CCW.And I think TrueForged is right there with the best of them. And Mike or Steve will take care of you, thats for sure...

Taser Deployed 12-06-2012 06:26 PM

I'm surprised more people don't have aftermarket wheels.

ayousef 12-06-2012 06:34 PM

theres nothing to hate about the ZL1s wheels, so im not surprized there arent more people who swapped wheels.

I want to see some true forged wheels on a ZL1 first before I make up my mind though :)

MIKE@TF 12-06-2012 06:41 PM

Hey werent you supposed to call me lol...i will get you pics next week of the wheels b4 they ship out.. and then the owner will tqke some great ones im sure;)

FYI: The inner fenders are the same on on a SS, ZL1 or 1LE. It doesn't matter because your 12's fit.

In my taste, the black wheels are some of the best factory wheels to come out on any car. I don't know how many compliments I have received just on the wheels on my car. At least everyone in my area loves the black on orange combo. In all reality, with a car with this exclusivity in this price range, I am betting that a higher percentage of people are keeping it stock.

That's what I've been thinking lately.

hognutz 12-07-2012 09:31 AM

normally I replace stock wheels because
A. they look horrible
B. they are boat anchor heavy
C. higher procudtion car so you see that wheel everywhere.

A. on this car I like the 10 spokes

B. they are factory forged so they are not too heavy even though there are lighter wheels out there.

C. I have the only one I have seen in the area so far.

to be honest 50% of the people think my car is just an SS I modified so they think the wheels are aftermarket ha ha. I figured by now I would have seen another one around and maybe that would make me want to get different rims but not yet.

z28mass 12-07-2012 09:47 AM

I love my stock black wheels on my orange ZL1. Those wheels make the car look mean so I was told.

Stock rims run about 1k per wheel, no tire either. After market is cheaper and maybe better

They're $649.

I've had my eyes on some iforged equip v3s concave series in a 11 front 12 rear. Matte black center with a carbon lip.

Deke736 12-07-2012 10:56 AM

I have my winter tires mounted on TSW Nurburgrings and I just put them on this week. They look good, but I still think the stock wheels look better.

It's not the best quality, but here's a few pics:
