Who's Driving and who's Trailering to CF8?

I've flirted with the idea of trailering the car. After 2+ years of owing it and with 4200 miles I'd had to put more miles on it. However, I do want to enjoy it for the 4+ hour drive. Renting a trailer from Uhaul is a little risky, and no that I know of that's locally has one. so looks like I'll be driving it. I just hope it doesn't rain. God please no rain that week.

We have to travel 596 miles,, 10+ hours, I thought about a trailer but we decided to drive. Even after the trip last year there is only 7500 miles on Thumper, We will drive again this year.

Driving there, changing tires, racing, changing tires back, driving home. It's about 5 and some change 1 way for me.

I'm 7.5 hours away. I drove last year, but I plan to trailer this year.

My wife rented a car last year so she could do her own thing. By trailering, we'll each have a vehicle if needed.

Also, I figure it'll be nice not having to worry as much about breaking the car at the track. And, there will be more room for chairs, ez-up, etc..

I'll be trailering and then I'm ready to rock and roll just off the ramps. Its 450 and lots of hills in Kentucky. Can't wait to make my first pass at Beech Bend.

Driving.

For Fest VII, it took me 2 calendar days (not adjusting for the time zone changes). I left on the morning of July 9, and arrived just past midnight Kentucky time on July 11.

It's 1020 miles for us. We took a day and a half last year. Can be done in one long day. We'll be driving again this July. After new tires. I'm retired and still I already have 20,000 miles in 17 months. Loving this car. :chevy:

Trailering from Orlando

01pewterz28 01-30-2018 07:58 AM

My buddy and I are driving up from Orlando it's about a 11 hour drive we plan to pull out at 3am to arrive around 1-2pm depending on traffic and stops. This will keep us out of rush hour morning traffic in Atlanta as well.
