John Fitzpatrick named Marketing Manager for the new Camaro!

FROM: SCOTT SETTLEMIRE

Good afternoon, Camaro Comrades and Firebird Friends,

While some of you may have already met him; most of you have not -- and thus it's my honor and pleasure to introduce you to the Marketing Manager of the new Camaro. (consider him ' Fbodfather 2.0 ' )

I've known John for many years as we worked together in the North East United States at Chevrolet in both our New York and Foxborough, MA Offices. John brings a host of Organization skills to his new job -- and that's crucial on any product launch -- but even MORE important when launching a 'hallowed' nameplate such as Camaro. I consider John a great friend and hope that you, the Camaro/Firebird Community will embrace him as warmly as you have me over the years.

I'm attaching a Biography that tells you a little bit about John.

As to me? I'm not going anywhere -- you're stuck with me! I'll continue to oversee Chevrolet Shows and Exhibits -- and I'll continue to work on the Camaro in an advisory position.

As I said a while back -- "......keep the faith ....the future, indeed, looks bright........" and as the days and weeks go by, it just keeps getting brighter and more exciting!

Date of Birth: 12/10/1964
City of Birth: Detroit, MI

Current Position: Marketing Manager - Impala/Camaro

Education: B.A., Philosophy - Sacred Heart Seminary College, Detroit, MI

My career started in 1987 at Chevrolet Customer Assistance as a Customer Service Specialist employed by EDS. After a year of answering customers' concerns, I was moved to a speciality group called Hobby Shop. My responsibilities were to research sales questions from other specialists, such as how to order the 1LE package on 4th gen Camaro.

In 1990, I was hired by Chevrolet and assigned to the Tampa, Florida Zone Office. I worked in various positions within the Zone Office learning about various aspects of our field operations. After 2 and 1/2 years, the office was closed, and I was moved to the newly formed Northeast Region, in Foxborough, MA.

My first position in the Northeast Region was Assistant Distribution Manager, where I worked with various District Managers (including DM Scott Settlemire). Within a year I was promoted to the position of District Manager for Southern New Hampshire. Although I was only in New Hampshire for two years, I fell in love with the area and a young lady who would eventually agree to marry me, my wife Marge.

After two years in New Hampshire, I was given the challenge of improving Chevrolet's results in Rhode Island as District Managers. In two years, sales and market share increased, and I was ready for a new challenge working back in Detroit.

In 1998, I was promoted to the position of Administrative Manager in Chevrolet's Training Group. After a year in that position, and a major organizational reorganization, I found my way to our Distribution Department which paved my way back to the Northeast Region.

In January 2000, just four months after the birth of my first daughter Brigid, I was promoted to the position of Northeast Regional Distribution Manager.

I would spend the next five years in the Northeast. After my two plus years stint as Distribution Manager, I was named Assistant Regional Marketing Manager for Chevrolet Cars. In this position, I worked with various dealer groups on promotions and sales events. My second daughter, Clare, came along during this time,

After two years as the Assistant Marketing Manager, I was named Zone Manager for our Small Dealer Group. In this position, I worked with over 200 dealers and developed 12 new hire District Managers. After a year, I had the opportunity to move to Rochester, NY as Zone Manager for Pontiac-Buick-GMC in Upstate New York.

I lasted exactly one year when I was asked to move back to Detroit and work for Chevrolet Marketing. Initially, I was named Marketing Manager for HHR, but after a few short months, and the announcement of Camaro's production, I was given the dream job of launching the Camaro.

WELCOME JOHN! aka Fbodfather 2.O

Any friend of Scott's is a friend to us, the Camaro community.

I am sure that such high praise from Scott means we have a very good person marketing our favorite car.

Mr. Wyndham 09-19-2007 11:16 PM

True, Moose. Otherwise I don't think Scott would have endorsed him in this way.

Congrats, Mr. Fitzpatrick (Fbodfather 2.0)...As I have felt about Scott - I now feel about you - complete trust of our Car's launch in your hands. You've been with Chevrolet your whole career, it seems - so I can rest easy. As opposed to, say...they hired a Home Depot CEO...

yeah, like Mindz said - if you ever check out this site, or this thread more specifically -then please - check out our 'Camaro Commercials' thread - you may be pleaseantly surprised.

I emailed them back. I shot John a message about this site and what it entailed. Hopefully he'll stop in some time during a break in his busy schedule.

I wonder what his screen name would be....

Welcome John. I wonder if this increases my chances at getting a track-prepared, street legal, 3200lb road racer....

Hey I can still hope...

From John Fitzpatrick:

To all my new Camaro friends:

I must admit that I've been a little overwhelmed since Scott sent his introductory message. I knew Scott's messages reach a wide and very passionate group of Camaro lovers. What I did not realize was how quick a response his messages generate. Within an half hour of Scott's message, I received 50 emails welcoming me to the group.

I want to thank everyone for their messages of support and welcome. I apologize I am not able to respond personally to every message, but due to the sheer volume I have received over the last four days, it is just not possible. Hopefully you'll accept this message as confirmation that you are on my new (and continuously updated) distribution list.

One piece of news I believe is already being circulated that I can confirm is Chevrolet's involvement with the upcoming "Transformers" DVD launch. In the DVD, you will find a special insert from Chevrolet. Open the insert and you find a website address to register for a chance to win one of three actual production versions of the Bumblebee Camaro. The website will offer you the opportunity to sign up for information on the upcoming Camaro launch.

The DVD and the website will be available on October 16, 2007. The sweepstakes is open to all legal residents of the U.S. and Canada, except in the Province of Quebec, over the age of 18. Make sure you sign up to win a very unique Camaro and for updates on the launch including upcoming Camaro appearances.

There is a lot that goes into a launch of a new vehicle; therefore, I can not promise you'll receive as many updates from me as you will from Scott. However, between the two of us, I'm sure we'll keep you posted on developments.

Thanks again for your continuing love of Camaro.
