Here he is -- pics by fellow member roaduscarnivorous. All decked out in bowties and badging.
B.E.A.utiful!!!
roaduscarnivorous said that he thought the car was a nice size, and he considers the Mustang to be a tad big -- so think about that. He also metioned that an officer told him it is being used for filming in a new TV show starring Christian Slater. I googled and found this: Spy Show

(Oh, and I no longer have to think about what color I'm going to get. :D :bellyroll:)

OK, I'm going to go out on a limb, here - this IS the final version. It's even got the GM "chiclet" square badge on the lower front fender.

From all the hubbub I've followed about the ZR1 for about a year now, I can tell you that this should be what will be hitting the showroom floors.

Can we get an interior pic, for gawd's sake!?!?!?!

BTW - is that a badge on the front grille, or an illusion!?!?

Oh yah, thanks to Dragon and TAG for the "tip of the hat" to this!!

This forum rocks!!!

Any bettors want to guess how long before THIS set of pictures ends up on Jalopnik!?!?!

EDIT: OK, the badge says "SS," AND the lower bumper vent matches the "BB" spyshots from the new 'Formers movie. Done deal.

The only thing that I can hope for is that if THIS is as close to the production version that we are going to get until September, I just hope GM actually goes through with the actual "Halo/Projector" scheme, as in the recent released Vert pics. Even if actual H.I.D's aren't an option, I'm a sincere DIE HARD fan of the "Halo/Projector" set up. Really GM, that's the only change I'm asking for or AT LEAST make it an option, surely the base models won't hold that set up as standard.. BUT I'm looking at the V8 realm, with that as an OPTION.. PURE HEAVEN. Still, GREAT FIND, GORGEOUS CAR, Cant wait to get in the driver's seat :happyanim: :rolling5thgen:

TAG UR IT 06-21-2008 02:49 AM

^That...and wouldn't it be cool if the left headlight actually turned left when the wheels turned left? And the right light turned right when the wheels turned to the right? How cool would that be!??!

Jinx 06-21-2008 02:57 AM

This is the guys response on our forum:

"the badge says ss. there's actually an ss badge on the rear right next to the tail lights that didn't show up in the photo. also, the two or three hash indentations in front of the rear wheel wells were funny. they emulate the ones on the original car but are totally stylistic, and very hard to see, almost a carricature

i had a good look at the interior but i didn't take any photos. i felt a little bad taking these 'cuz i chatted w/ the guy and he was really nice and i was afraid he'd get into trouble. i liked the interior a lot. it's basically a faithful, realistic, and functional translation of the show car's interior. i especially liked the quad gauges on the center console. overall, the interior looked pretty slick, not cheaply retro like the mustang's interior. it also seemed pretty snug, which i like. there seemed to be very little leg room for the back seats, which isn't that surprising. the bowtie on the front grill was a bit too big and shiny (i kinda wish it'd have the classic camaro logo/badge instead), but my impression of the car's inside and out was very positive"

JaysonAych 06-21-2008 03:01 AM

Crikey!

Trim!

Badges!

Glee! :happyanim: :happyanim: :happyanim: :happyanim: :happyanim: :happyanim:

Wanna see the inside now!

Congoman775 06-21-2008 03:04 AM

im hoping they take some interior ques from the G8.

GM did it right in that car, and thats just another reason its doing so well.

Jinx 06-21-2008 03:09 AM

I have some small things I like to change, but I think Ill do it myself when I get it. I will be shopping for in aftermarket grille that puts the SS badge in place of the bowtie, and be removing the CAMARO lettering from the fenders, along with the Gm logo at the bottom, and removing the bowtie on the rear deck and replacing it with the SS.
The SS on the side, makes it look like an afterthought and cluttered. We know its a Chevy.

Thanks for the details, Jinx. Your posts are always spot-on. I agree on the "I'll do it myself" changes thing, for sure!

TAG UR IT 06-21-2008 03:26 AM

Yeah...we know it. But, countless others won't. Personally, I like the bowtie. I'm just wondering how the SS or Z28 can be incorporated in other ways. Like....on the side, back, ....you know...on the side front grill isn't that bad looking. I kinda like that. But, I really like that chiclet GM badge. I don't know why, but I've always loved that little square.

2kwik 06-21-2008 03:28 AM

Wow... beautiful. I wonder what this thing would look like with blacked out tail lights and dark tints..

I had to go 'shopping ;)

Jinx 06-21-2008 04:12 AM

The reason I dislike the chiclet GM logo on the bottom of all fender is because it seems to copy the early 90s chrysler/eagle/plymouth/dodges with the pentastar logo placement. I prolly leave the badges off the sides and just have them front and rear.

AFSNightrod 06-21-2008 05:13 AM

YES!!! I love it!

Jak 06-21-2008 05:26 AM

Me like, me like. Silver's moving quickly up my list of colors I want. Did anyone notice that this one has a moon roof? So it looks like we'll have two roof styles to choose from, this and the reverse mohawk.  :happyanim:

Txturbo 06-21-2008 07:02 AM

:w00t: very very :w00t: That silver is awesome. The more we see....the harder it is to make a choice. :iono: Its going to take me until the vert is released to figure out what I want, and then I'll have to start all over again.

Omega94 06-21-2008 07:05 AM

W:confused0068:W

This is awesome! :D The only thing is that I wish we could see the car head on and possibly with headlights lit. Because of the glare, it's really difficult to tell exactly what the headlights look like.

I'm loving the way the rear end looks! I think that the chrome exhaust tips look absolutely AWESOME! They look really really good! I'm hoping for an optional rear fascia that supports the usage of a dual-dual exhaust tip setup (like on the SLP loudmouth, for instance).

And come on! Couldn't we have gotten the mufflers hidden for this car?!?! ;) ;) ;)

I love it!

z28camaro2471 06-21-2008 07:23 AM

The car looks absolutely fantastic! I think I like it BETTER than the concept.

Great job Scott and team!!

ihc95 06-21-2008 07:36 AM

SAWEET!!!!! Damn, theres that stupid front bumper again. Hope its an accessory. To me it doesn't look that aggressive at all. I want to know what dumbass at GM thought that bumper is better than the pre-pro bumper!!! Sorry, getting a bit frusturated.

nUcLeArEnVoY 06-21-2008 07:45 AM

If this is the final version, then I'd have to say "Not too bad, GM" - they could've deviated from the concept a lot more than this. What is a slightly raised roofline, larger mirrors, different gas cap location and a lightly remolded front fascia when everything else is SOO like the concept? Especially in silver to compare.

And ihc95 is right - you can see that it's the vert's front fascia on the coupe with the small indentions at the sides and jutted out air dam. Doesn't look to shabby from this angle to me although yeah, the original bumper was better. I'll live with this change, though.

FUTURE TOP DOG OWNER 06-21-2008 07:51 AM

If this is the SS it's not showing any difference than all the other cars we
have seen!! The top dog should be more powerful looking (Bigger tires, stripes
ect!!!) That's telling me that the SS will be the lower model than the Z/28
and that sucks!!:mad0260: Well I guess as long as we get 500+ horse I won't complain (too much) Anyone else feeling the same??!!

OverAnxious 06-21-2008 07:52 AM

I saw those last night - that car looks good! These are some nice pictures for sure.

I've never been a fan of the gold bowties, mine will be gone shortly after delivery just like all of my pickups

brantley847 06-21-2008 07:57 AM

The GM chiclet is a lil weird to me, but if the worst thing I notice is reverse lights and chiclets then thats a damn good thing...good job GM

I kinda like the bow tie front and back....the badging for the SS is not to flashy which is great...However, noooooottttt a huge fan of the reverse lights, then again I dont really have a better idea of where to place them. I notice the XM ant. is also not painted with the body color, I hope this is because it is pre-pro, I know there was some gripe about this issue on other vehicles, not to mention I am a sirius man and I need a damn merger.....all in all its has come along nicely.

nUcLeArEnVoY 06-21-2008 08:11 AM

Nice spoiler too. I hope the aftermarket makes an even taller, more pronounced lip like that as a throwback to the 69's.

Chevyrocker 06-21-2008 08:16 AM

looks good, but christian slater in a tv show? is it 1990 again and someone just forgot to tell me?

HEY!!! I'M the dumbass at GM that thought the SS bumper is better than the base bumper!!! (Well me and all the people that actually make the decisions.) It's practically the same except it's got a nice airdam instead of an overbite and the grill and lower lights are set wider creating the side bulges.

For the record....I like it both ways...the front bumper I mean.

Xanthos 06-21-2008 08:53 AM

Now, this just begs the question... Where would be the best place to paint CAMARO across the back in big, gloss black, block letters. I already know where the racing stripes will go - right where they were on bumblebee in the first movie.

Camaro Lives On 06-21-2008 08:55 AM

ITS AN SS!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! It's beautiful!!!!! Guys and gals, the time has finally come and I think that we can officially say this after seeing these pictures. The time has come, the Camaro has returned, and returned for good!!!!

carsismeZ06 06-21-2008 09:32 AM

idk if anyone elso noticed, but the badge next to the bowtie on the grill says "Z28"

carsismeZ06 06-21-2008 09:33 AM

are those the production headlights?
