One person's comment to the auction was laughable:
"I owned a 2014 Z/28. I loved it so much I bought the Z/28.R.
This is a track beast and will most likely never be driven to its potential by most drivers. So many positive comments can be made about the 2014/15 Z28. My favorite is the low rpm torque. Snap the throttle and the power band is immediate. That being said……….the pitfalls can be replacing carbon ceramic brake rotors. Back when I checked it was around 10 grand.
"

Who in the hell is that guy?

How many Z/28.R's were there?

4 iirc

His guess is high, but not THAT high. I mean, even if you find a good deal on them it's still about 5.5-6k on the rotors. Main reason I swapped out to Girodiscs lol.

$40.25k for that car was a steal.

I guess he was trying to say the rotors are just expensive to replace, but 10 grand? 1/4 of what my car's price was.

Cheapest, doing a quick search, as of today is:
$1250/ea for fronts

$1300/ea for rears

That 10 grand figure was real life back in..09 or so when the ZR1 hit the shelf. That figure has stuck in people head ever since, it used to be 10G's for the ZR1 parts. The thread floated around forever with OMG look how much the CCB kit is!! Last I checked at GM it was like 1500/rotor +/-. Thats mostly wasted info, the number of people who will need rotors is very low, compared to the 1801 cars built.

I've said 1000 times, the first person to make a kit to fit ZL11LE brakes to the 5th gen is going to make a killing. They are SO close in fitment.

What rears do you run?

I made a post about this and got nowhere. Please elaborate. Are You running the zl1 rings on the z28 hats? Stock pad work or have to use a Nissan GTR style pad?

Yes, ZL1 rings, z/28 hats, zl1 hardware to assemble and stock zl1 pads. I've only street tested but seems to stop better then CCBs. Initial bit sucks compared to CCBs but I think there's better stopping (trigger rear ABS just before front triggers) w/ heated tires.

Not sure what I'm going to do on rears yet - I might test fit the 390 * 36 ZL1 discs on the rear and see how that fits - they're 4mm wider then our CCB and I'm not sure the bolt pattern is the same but I have no measured yet. Don't know what I'd do for pads either.

This is fantastic news. Few weeks ago I asked if this was possibly based on the info I read on the gen 6 forum, racing brake ccr rotor conversion thread. How was the pad fitment? Any pad/rotor overhang?

What about the RB set up on the rear while using the ZL1 up front with something like the Ferodo race pads at each corner? Would this be a possibility? Or would it just make more sense to just use the RB conversion all around?

While I don't yet have the Z28 in my possession, I will need an iron conversion for sure.

I don't even know who makes race compounds for the Z28 6 piston calipers... are there many options?
