Oh don't worry Petes got the suspension sorted out. We just need to figure out how much power she wants. I'm thinking we'll start with LT's and exhaust. CAI. And go from there. :D

dude, i tried to get you to do headers a long time ago
and a CAI ain't really necessary - cutting a big hole in the front of the air box has proven just as good if not better  then just remove some torque management in the tune & that 5.3'll really wake up!

GTAHVIT 07-16-2012 07:20 PM

Pedders RED SS brake lines and extended range alignment bolts arrived today :D

Got a quote for Powder coating the brakes locally... 270 for all 4 Probably gonna go with a Victory Red... or a little darker...

Hopefully I'll get my exhaust welded up tomorrow at lunch :D

600hp-lpe 07-16-2012 07:28 PM

what did you do to your exhaust?

GTAHVIT 07-16-2012 07:32 PM

I just need to get my clamps tack welded. The clamps ARH used have the hangars welded to the clamps. So over time the exhuast sags.. So, I'm gonna have the clamps tack welded to the pipes so it won't sag anymore.

Darth_Emma 07-16-2012 09:16 PM

GTA has saggy pipes. (someone had to say it!)

There are only two must read books for a 5th Gen owner. One is a classic and the other is THE 5th Gen Book.

Thanks! I haven't decided yet... I was thinking of a camaro5 decal or a THR Decal... But I'll probably end up with a Brembo one. :iono:

My brake project.....

You know all that advice our Dad's have given us about, don't wait till the last minute, check, double check and triple check that you have all the parts. Order everything in advance...

yeah... well you'd think at 39 I'd be better at following that advice.

I was originally planning on get the calipers powdercoated by last Friday and installed over the weekend...

We had a small delay when the powder coater wanted to remove the pistons and seals prior to powder coating... which I was fine with but after doing some research on what it would cost to rebuild the fronts I had them put a hold on the job. It would cost me about $500 for a rebuild kit on the fronts and no one had them in stock... So, I made a bunch of calls asking if the brake internals would handle the powder coating heat and media blasting. In the end everyone agreed that they would be fine and I picked them up on Monday. They look fantastic. :D

I had already ordered the SRF (liquid gold) brake fluid and was planing on getting my pads Pins and clips I needed for the front and rear brakes locally.

Uhm... Stock front CTSV pads are really spensive... LOL and again not in stock anywhere... The Cadillac front pins are $60 apiece and I'd need 4. And again... NOT in stock anywhere. So the shops who I use and I start making calls to see how quickly we can get aftermarket stuff... Luckily we find some Hawk HPS pads which should be here by Friday. And the pin/clip hardware which will be here Friday as well. I know they aren't OE pieces and cheaper but I'm thinking they should do fine.

The plan is to get the ss brake lines and calipers back on the car this weekend and then I'll have to go to a shop with a Tech II machine to flush the DOT 3 fluid out and replace it with the liquid gold, to ensure the ABS system is properly flushed...

I'm running out of time..... :scared0068:

garcmol 07-24-2012 03:49 PM

So, you're going to keep the SS brake set up on for now? Is that what I read in the last paragraph?

And that advice thing; it doesn't kick in until 40~ish :)

Those calipers look great though!

Tonight I'm gonna get my rear brakes back on so I can drive the car.

Worst case I'll have to go to the fest on red rear calipers and stock fronts.

If all goes well, I'll get all the parts I need by end of week, get the fronts installed get the fluid flushed and be ready to hit the road to the fest. :D

but why do you need a TechII for a brake flush? that's a computer reader/programmer. or is it to make the ABS module open up or something?
