How to tell a 2SS from a 1SS
 

Been away from the forums for a while since a Camaro wasnt a reality for me for a while. Now it is again and I am looking to purchase one by the end of Summer. I am getting a convertible and I would prefer a 2SS. Is there anything in the VIN or what visual cues does I look for? If all else fails, how can I look and tell by looking at the interior? Sorry for the lack of knowledge. Will be looking at the WIKI link to see if I can get the info but thought this may be quicker.

1SS is a white emblem and the 2SS is red

2SS has leather but not sure about other features

If you are purchasing the car used the best bet would be by the VIN. So many people have add things such as leather and gauges.

No - a Red SS means that it's an RS as well.

Leather interior is the quick way to tell. Now -- that said - I've seen some people add leather after they bought their cars. Look for the gauge package below the radio - a 2SS will have gauges - a 1SS will not.

You will get a hit on a bunch of threads with the same disinformation that you will get in this one. There were too many to post links on here.

The easiest way for a 2014 will be if the HUD is in color or not. The info center between the clusters will also be in color on a 2SS

2SS also has the heads up display. The RS option makes the emblems red.

Depends on the year.

the 2010 camaro's did not have the HUD on any version.

RS in 2010 also got you the gauges

I thought that gauges were a 1SS or 1LT option. Not something in the RS package.

That is wrong, the gauges where part of the 2SS model version features having gauges or not did not have anything to do with the RS package. A 1SS model with the RS package did not have the gauges.
