Still far cry from the discounts we've seen before..

I got email today and the discount now is only $1000 and the regular camaro was $2000 is now 0.

I wonder since they are going to build 2015 till November instead June, like before the deep discounts will not happen till October.

I do not think you will see any more discounts on the Z/28 or ZL1 this year. I think GM will give the dealers some kickback on the cost of those cars after they sell. I also think since there was no mention of either of these cars at the reveal they will wait to announce any HiPerf cars until after the ones that dealers have in inventory are sold. Just my 2 cents worth.

If you want the car, Buy it now, they are not going to make anymore of them.
if you wait you will miss out on owning it

Not really. They didn't even sell that many back when they were 20% off plus used ones are popping up every minute. The car will be available for whoever wants it when they want it. This is the 3rd major discount on the car to try and get them off the floor.

Yeah and they're going to make a lighter faster better one

If you look on Ebay, there are quite a few of them used with under a 100 miles. IMO these are all the one's that were purchased(some by dealers themselves)during the Dec 20% sale for 15k off. I'm sure it looked like an easy 5k flip then,the woods are still full of them and no takers. I think there will be another round of deep discounting around Labor day, always is. Dealers want off these in the worst way, a far cry from the 10k mark up when they first came out. Not meant to diminish in the slightest what an awesome car it is- but when they brought out the C7Z for not much more it killed Z28 interest. JMO

I've been hard shopping them for a few weeks and it's shocking to see that one can pick up a nearly new one for high 50s/low 60s.

Inspiring would be a better adjective.

THe Z/28 is a flop. Is it awesome? Yes! Is it a practical car to buy as your daily driver? As your only car? No. It's a track car. The ZL1, the 1LE, and the Stingray are better options.

I think the Z/28 is a better daily driver than a Vette. It is much easier for entry and exit from car, and isn't too low for us over 50 crowd. Bigger wheels and 35 profile tires soften the ride and make it pretty good for daily use.

in perspective: In 1965 the Ford Mustang came out with an MSRP of around $2475. That is roughly $19,000 in today's dollars based on a 4.1 % rate of inflation.

The 1965 Shelby GT350 was priced at $5375. That is roughly $40,800 in today dollars. Was the Shelby worth twice as much as a std. issue Fastback with a hi-po? Well apparently not.

The Shelby did not sell. It was not a value proposition. They sat on lots forever. So much so that the remaining 1965's in production were converted to 1966 models. They are now referred to as "carry over cars". Was it a flop? Hardly. But at the time most would consider it so.

Were they a value? Not hardly. Did they garnere publicity and further Ford's marketing effort in the performance arena? Yes and in a big way with SCCA.

While they took 50 years to be appreciated by collectors and revered by historians, the marketing genius at that time in history, allowed for us to enjoy what we have now. And it launched a new era in Ford Performance with the Cobra and GT40 programs.

Great performance competition by the big 3. It may not make financial or practical sense for most people, but the people who see the car for what it is and was intended to be are very grateful.

I am thankful for the history and grateful that I am able to enjoy mine.

If you can find one for $60K let me know...if you don't want to buy it! I have been looking on and off for a couple months, and now that my deal for a GT350 fell through I am looking harder! There is a '14 that has been sitting on a dealer lot within 150 miles of me since new. They won't budge on price...except for GM incentives.
