Whipple=boost
Anyone run a 3.125 pulley on stock internals?
we have some guys running that up here, but Albuquerque is much higher altitude. we can get away with it. i would be very careful of running that at sea level. could be dangerous.
im running 16 psi off a procharger on stock internals for over a year.... no problems
centi are much more forgiving on a motor than a twin screw. 16 psi on a roots or twin screw on a stock motor will not hold up very long.
Well I was running 13psi on my whipple for a year before that. No probs
Like the comments. I've read threw here a bunch and haven't seen many peoples stories about trashing the engine from too much boost. Is psi not the same as other psi no matter where it's made from? I figure good meth and a good tune with good fuel presure will be just fine. I'm going to try and squeeze 15 psi out of mine and I'll let yall know if it goes up in smoke. But please keep the comments rolling. I like this place

I will find out soon how well the stock internals take to some whipple boost. mine is sitting at g-force awaiting its tune and other supporting mods.

I have a 3.2 pulley on a twin screw
Its a roots, but pretty close. Even though you are only at 8 psi, you are making a lot of power.
Supposedly its the power that destroys an engine, not the psi. High hp (even more needed to run blower) and high intake temp. OP, as long as you get good gas and a good tune, it will probably hold for a while, as you have probably read. I would data log and be careful if you take it on a long trip. Use some decent octane booster if you are using unfamiliar gas stations. What hp are u estimating? Also, do you track the car? |
i'm running a 4 inch pulley with my whipple, and its hitting 9lbs of boost. Started with a 3.875 and it was hitting 10.1lbs. I backed it off to the 4" just for a little more safety.

Are you running a cam? |
I know of a stock ls3 (cam and spring only)that has a f1-x procharger on 23psi. Made 9 pulls over 1k this week on the dyno. Made 1034whp. With the proper fuel and tuning the ls3 is a beast of a motor.
