Damaged third brake light adhesive?

1 Attachment(s)
So I recently bought the black/gray tail lights and third brake light for my camaro. During install I had already pulled both taillights and the third brake light but when I took the third brakelight out of the package I found that the adhesive protector had peeled back and part of it had stuck to the bag. I tried to remove it carefully but it tore a bit.

Think it will be okay to leave it like this or should I ask for a warranty/redo the adhesive/buy a new one? I unfortunately had to install as is for now because I needed to drive the car. I'm just concerned it's going to let water in or something and cause some kind of issue.

I think you will be okay. The adhesive tape isn't structural, the brake light is kept in place by clips and the tape only serves to keep water out, which, based on your picture, doesn't seem to be compromised. Do check how much the tape compresses after installation and whether there is any gap, though.

I'd get that warrantied first. Putting it on then checking to see if it's compressed enough probably won't qualify for warranty since it could be under "installation error".

You can always just buy 3m tape and re do it yourself. That is what I did and worked out perfectly

You will be ok.

Thanks appreciate the feedback. Yeah as said I had to put it on because I needed to drive the car and already pulled the old one out so I had no choice but to put that one in. It doesn’t look like water is getting in, hard to tell though. If I do see any water as said I’ll just get some 3m tape and redo it myself it’s not to hard. Yeah thanks again.

On the topic of light stuff does anyone know an easy way to smoke/darken the reflectors that are on the rear bumper?

One option is vinyl, see https://www.bigwormgraphix.com/2016-...ction-284.html, this is a reliable company with quality products. Alternatively, you can get the Hero smoked replacement reflectors for about $30: https://www.phastekperformance.com/H...ero-6-6srr.htm
