T-56 tranny

My 2010 camaro is going to be about 700whp once im done with it, and recently i saw a 736whp mustang with a t6060 in it. I was just wondering how long you think the t6060 will be able to hold all that power or could a viper spec t-56 or t-56 magnum work better and also fit in the camaro?

i'd say if you're going for that kind of power, get a zr1 spec tr6060 or get a richmond

ls7camaro 09-12-2009 10:32 PM

where the hell do i get that

t6060 > t56.

You might need to have the 6060 built to handle the power, but it is stronger than a t56. Might want to do some research and see how these things work before you go throwing money at it...

The 6060 has larger gears and more torque capacity.

It is what they are installing in the higher horspower cars.

ZR1
Shelby GT 500
LS3 Camaro
Challanger

HI Robin, thanks for the info..

Are there any internal differences between the 6060 that come in these cars?

Thanks!

I would go with a Viper built T56. Cheaper and proven to hold all the power you can give it.

The 6060 is supposed to be "better" than the T56, but right now it does not seem to be the case. Once Tremec irons out the issue(s) with the new synchros, then the benefits of the smoother shifting, higher torque rating, etc. will put it in the top spot. I still sort of hate that manufacturers seem to have to come out with something "better" when it's not really necessary. I believe you can build up a really nice T56 that will still cost a good bit less than a 6060.

yea the 6060's seemed to been having a lot of issues lately. So would a t-56 fit?

Muscle Master 09-13-2009 09:17 AM

Did I not say the T6060 is a piece of Junk some months ago ...

Sure, a T56 will fit...one way or another :) If you want to know whether it will be a direct bolt-in swap, then you might want to call Tremec. They might have a "beefed" up version of the TR6060 in development or available that should be a direct fit in every respect. The top photo is a T56 and the one below it is a TR6060. As you can see, the shifter location of the TR6060 looks to be a couple of inches in front of the T56 and the tranny looks like it's about 3-5" longer.

The following is out of "Hot Rod" magazine:

"T56 Magnum Tremec
www.ttcautomotive.com

Tremec's new T56 is a T56 six-speed on steroids. The Magnum ups the ante with more preicse shifts and a stronger case, gears, guts, and output shaft to increase the power handling to 700Lb-ft. Rather than forging the gears and clutching teeth all as one unit, for the Magnum, Tremec laser-welded the two together for a much more intricate design of the teeth. On top of that, the Magnum is physically narrower and equipped with wider gears as well as some extra meat to the front and rear of the main case. The T56 magnum will be available in configurations for 4.6 and 5.0 Fords, LS-series engines, and small block Chevys, but custom bellhousings for other applications will be available through most distributors.
Price: $3,000.00"

thats what i was thinking of getting too, the t-56 magnum

UsedTaHaveA68 09-13-2009 03:42 PM

T-56 magnum = TR-6060

ls7camaro 09-13-2009 04:59 PM

so how long do you guys think the tr6060 will hold about 700whp
