IPF Self-Installs, Note To Consider

Make sure your braided steel oil drain line is rounted AWAY from the aluminum air conditioning line that's directly below the supercharger.

It's an expensive lesson.

Steel won over the aluminum hu? Those aluminum hoses are expensive. Thanks for the tip, I'm sure people here will take note of that.

are these really easy enough that people with some experience can do it themselves?

Yea, if you pm me your email, I think I can send you the install manual so you can see it if you'd like

The loose hanging drain line for the supercharger, provided for when its oil needs to be changed, is coated in braided steel. I neglected to take into consideration that it might rub against something, which it did. In this case, it pretty much sawed its way through an aluminum air conditioning line that was right below it. I had to order a new line and will have to have the system evacuated and recharged after a new line is installed.

And yes, a handy person can self-install the IPF s/c kit.

Dang that stinks, sorry to hear that happened.

Sent from my SAMSUNG Galaxy S III using telekinesis.

My drain line has a sleeve over the braided drain hose. I positioned this and wire wrapped it so it didn't touch anything.

This is the same braided oil drain line that comes on every Vortech V3 self-contained unit, we usually adel clamp or zip tie it off to the side. Never used a sleeve before on any of them.

I actually ended up bending the ac line a little to get it away from the hose. My friend and I figured that would be a problem in the near future. I did a self install with a good buddy of mine. Supercharger installs can be done but may need to be prepared for a few things.I actually will post a thread with all kinds of pics. Took pics of every step.
